“Tengo dos hijas que participan en el Programa de Lenguaje Dual en la Escuela Primaria Lake Hills.Mi esposo y yo somos hispano-hablantes, sin embargo, en casa hablamos tanto en inglés como en español. Nuestros dos hijos naturalmente se inclinan hacia el inglés como su idioma principal. En un esfuerzo por fortalecer sus habilidades en ambos idiomas, los inscribimos a ambos en el programa de lenguaje dual.
Mi hija mayor aprendió a hablar español como su primer idioma, pero cuando comenzó la escuela se le estaba olvidando el español.Estaba inscrita en el programa bilingüe desde el jardín de infancia y culminará el quinto grado este semestre después de haber pasado con éxito todos sus grados de primaria como estudiante bilingüe. Habla inglés con la misma fluidez que el español y puede cambiar de un idioma a otro con facilidad.
Mi hijo menor no hablaba nada de español. Su primer idioma era el inglés y el español simplemente no captó su interés. Para ella, decidimos inscribirla antes en el programa bilingüe. Comenzó en el preescolar de dos idiomas de Lake Hills.Desde el comienzo de su educación, comenzamos a notar que sus habilidades mejoraron y ahora puede cambiar entre ambos idiomas.
Ambos niños están motivados y entusiasmados con su educación. ¡Como padres, estamos muy contentos y agradecidos de ser parte de este programa en el Distrito Escolar de Bellevue!”

“I have two daughters participating in the Dual Language Program at Lake Hills Elementary. My husband and I are native Spanish speakers, however, both English and Spanish are spoken at home. Both of our kids naturally gravitate towards English as their primary language. In an effort to fortify their skills in both languages, we enrolled them both in the Dual Language program.
My oldest child learned to speak Spanish as her first language, but when she began school she was forgetting her Spanish. She was enrolled in the dual language program since Kindergarten and she will be culminating 5th grade this semester having successfully gone through her full elementary grades as a dual language student. She is as fluent in English as she is in Spanish and she can switch from one language to the other with ease.
My youngest child did not speak any Spanish. Her first language was English and Spanish just did not catch her interest. For her, we chose to enroll her earlier in the dual language program. She started at the Lake Hills Dual Language Preschool. From the start of her schooling, we began to notice her skills improve, and now she is able to switch between both languages.
Both children are motivated and excited about their schooling. As parents, we are very happy and grateful to be part of this program at Bellevue School District!”
