Counselor’s Corner with Guidance Counselor Debra Miller:  Welcome back to the 2020-2021 school year!  While we can’t be onsite to welcome students in person, I want the students here to think of my office or remote office as a warm and friendly place, where they are always welcome. My office is also a safe haven – a place where they can get help if they feel confused or worried. With that I mind, I have created a Virtual office where students can explore and learn about a wide variety of things, including ways to regulate their emotions and calm down, when needed. You can find my Virtual Office here Ms. Miller’s Virtual Counseling Office

As a School Counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students while working to end racism and biases. I look forward to offering support to the students, staff, families and community.  I know there are a lot of unknowns about what school will look like this fall with all the learning happening outside of school’s physical walls, and that may be stressful and anxiety producing. But know that we are in this together and I will continue to be available as a support to you and your students. If you would like to schedule a Teams meeting to discuss any concerns please Click here to book an appointment with Ms. Miller

Curbside Technology Support:  BSD’s Technology Department offers curbside service for students and families who need general tech support for issues that are difficult to resolve via email or phone. More information is available on the district’s website.

Help with Technology: Student and family technology support is available Monday through Friday online, by phone and in-person. Visit for details.

Changes in Attendance coding:  Beginning the week of October 5, there will be a change to the coding of your student’s absences.  At the beginning of this school year, we continued with the use of the Remote Learning Absence (RLA) coding, that was utilized last spring when students were absent from a virtual class.  Use of the RLA coding aligned with the guidance from the State, however this was a temporary provision to be utilized up to October 2.  Thus, starting today, Monday, October 5, absences from remote learning will be marked excused or unexcused and we will be using the  attendance codes that we have used in the past.

If your student is absent, please contact our attendance office at
