Hello Senior Students & Families –

Less than a week to go before seniors will exit our campus for the last time as students.  The graduation team is really excited about the graduation ceremony. Our focus this year is on having more student voice in this year’s ceremony. We think that it will be a special event and we are looking forward to seeing you there! Here’s everything you need to know to help your senior successfully end their year.

Senior Checkout & Last Day:

The last day of school for graduating Seniors is Wednesday, June 16th, and classes will be scheduled, as normal. All Seniors, regardless of their education option (e.g. Hybrid, Virtual-Only, Running Start), must complete the Senior Checkout process, before they will be able to collect their graduation tickets and, eventually, their diploma.

Senior Checkout is taking place in the SHS Commons on Wednesday, June 16th, from 11:00am – 3:30pm, with a makeup day scheduled for Thursday, June 17th, from 12:00pm – 3:30pm. Seniors will visit the following stations to complete their checkout:

Station #1.Counselors – Counselors will confirm the following with Seniors:

  • Completion of the High School & Beyond Plan – Reach out to our College & Career Advisor, Arlene Scott (scottar@bsd405.org), for help with this
  • Eligibility for Graduation (ex. Grade Check, Graduation Requirements, etc)

Station #2.Technology – Turn in any BSD equipment (laptops, chargers, styluses, etc.)

Station #3.Accounting – Return books (if not returned in class) & confirm all fines/fees are cleared

Station #4.Graduation Tickets & Honor Cord Pickup – Only allowed, after visiting Stations 1 – 3

Senior Graduation Information:

Graduation Ceremony EventSammamish High School Seniors will be able to attend their Graduation Ceremony at T-Mobile Park in Seattle on Friday, June 25th, starting at 12:30pm, with gates opening at 11:30am. Seating will be assigned using the same ‘pods’ that were created for Mariners games and graduates will sit with their family/guests in the same ‘pod’.

Additional details on our Graduation @ T-Mobile Park are viewable on our District Graduation 2021 page. Please also be aware there are very specific rules for allowed items at T-Mobile Park – Please review those guidelines here: EnglishSpanishChinese.

The location of the ceremony and format is still contingent upon guidance from the King County Health Department, the Washington State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction, and Bellevue School District Central Office Administration.

Graduation Ticket InformationAll families and graduates that expressed interest in attending graduation should have received an email confirming their ticket allocation on 06/04/2021. If your graduate did not receive this confirmation, please reach out to our Office Manager, Kim Taniguchi (taniguchik@bsd405.org).

Now that we have completed surveying our families, we do have the opportunity to grant families up to an additional 10 tickets per graduate – These would be in addition to the ticket allocation already secured above. If you would like to request 1 – 10 more tickets for your family, please reply to this email with that information by tomorrow, June 10th. These additional tickets will be given on a first-come, first-served basis. Please email our Office Manager, Kim Taniguchi (taniguchik@bsd405.org) with any questions you have.

Children under 2 years of age that do not require their own seat do not need a ticket for entry.

Graduation Cap & GownsTo participate in the Graduation Ceremony, Seniors will need a cap, gown, stole & tassel. Seniors can place orders for these items, on the Jostens website for our school. If you have any questions on how to order or need help with anything pertaining to your order, please reach out to our Jostens representative, Mike Annis, by phone at (206) 931-4723 or via email at mike.annis@jostens.com. Items will be shipped to your home address.

We will be providing caps and gowns to students in need. If your family needs assistance with acquiring a cap and gown for your senior, please reach out to our Counseling Secretary, Adriana Maldonado Ruiz (maldonadoa@bsd405.org). Additional information will be sent to those families once we have determined who needs assistance.

If any families have gently used caps and gowns that they would like to donate to another graduating senior, please reach out to our Counseling Secretary, Adriana Maldonado Ruiz (maldonadoa@bsd405.org) to coordinate the drop-off of these items.

For information on graduation attire guidelines and cap decorations, check out our Graduation Attire Information page.

Honor Cord InformationGraduates and their families will be notified of their graduate’s honor cord eligibility via email by Tuesday, June 1st; they are $5.00/each. If your graduate does not receive an honor cord email and they feel this is in error, please contact our Office Manager, Kim Taniguchi (taniguchik@bsd405.org), for help. Details on cords available and the requirements/deadlines to earn them are viewable on the Senior Graduation & Activities page. Cords will be available for student pickup, along with their graduation tickets, during Senior Checkout on the following days, in the SHS Commons:

  • Wednesday, June 16th: 11:00am – 3:30pm
  • Thursday, June 17th: 12:00pm – 3:30pm

Purchasing Graduation PhotosGrad Images will be taking photos of graduates as they collect their diploma cover and leave the stage at graduation this year. Once the photos are ready, graduates and families can search for their photos at: www.gradimages.com. If you would like to pre-register your contact information, to make sure you are notified, when photos are ready for purchase, please do so here. Anyone who pre-registers will get a code for 20% off of their order of at least $50.

UPDATE | Senior Slideshow Photos Wanted:

We had planned to show a Senior Student slideshow in conjunction with our Graduation in T-Mobile Park this year. Unfortunately, the responses received from the community was too low to create a slideshow, in time for submission to T-Mobile Park.  As a result, we are not able to provide this component for graduation this year; however, we will be using submitted photos to run a smaller slideshow at Senior Recognition Night on Tuesday, June 15th.

If students and families would like to participate and submit their senior’s photo(s) for this purpose, please upload your photo files using this Form, using your students BSD-issued laptop or after logging into www.outlook.com with your student’s account, by the end of the day Friday, June 11th. Unfortunately, for security purposes, we can only allow photo submissions through a district account. Families and Seniors may opt to submit up to 3 photos, with file sizes of 10MB or less. Photos can be anything from Senior portraits to childhood photos, whatever you feel best celebrates your amazing senior.

Families with questions or that are unable to submit their photos should reach out to Kim Taniguchi (taniguchik@bsd405.org) for help.

Please continue to check our Senior Graduation & Activities page as we continue to update this site with more information and details.

Best regards,

SHS Staff
