Kickoff to Spirit Week: 

We kickoff our Spirit Week with Ugly Sweater Day and Deck the Halls on Friday, December 10th. Deck the Halls begins after school and students will be decorating our hallways, based on their grade-level assigned season:

  • 9th Grade: Summer (2nd Floor Science Wing)
  • 10th Grade: Spring (2nd Floor Outside Rooms 217 – 220)
  • 11th Grade: Fall (2nd Floor Outside Rooms 213 – 216)
  • 12th Grade: Winter (2nd Floor Outside Rooms 210 – 212)

SHS Staff vs Student Basketball! 

Want to play basketball against some of your favorite Sammamish staff members? Sign up for the Student vs Staff basketball game happening next Wednesday, December 15th at 1:15PM. The sign-up link is in your class teams and in your BSD student email. All skill levels are welcome! Sign ups will end this Friday, December 10th

Admission for our Spirit Week Staff vs. Student Basketball game on Wednesday, December 15th, is two donated items – Masks are required to attend. The game starts at 1:15pm, so come cheer for your Team and help out our local community in the process!

SHS Winter Food Drive 12/13/2021-12/17/2021:

SHS is hosting a food drive to support HopeLink’s Stock the Shelves Event and we need your help!

We will be collecting non-perishable food and personal care items the week of 12/13/2021 – 12/17/2021 for donation. Students will bring their donation items to their 4th period class and the class with the most donated items at the end of the week will get a prize! Our school goal is to donate 1,500 items or more!

The items most needed are:

SHS Winter Wonderland Formal: 

Winter Wonderland Formal Tickets are now on sale!  Saturday December 11th from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. Get dressed up and come have fun with your friends. There will be Karaoke, Food trucks, Photo Ops, Ping Pong and other activities.

Tickets available online at or the accounting window.  $10 W/ASB, $15 Without.  Tickets are free for students with a F/R waiver.

No ticket sales at the door. Ticket Sales close at 3:00pm on Friday December 10th. All Fines & Fees must be clear to purchase. No Outside Guests.

SHS Winter Wonderland Formal Clean up: 

The leadership class are looking for some help to take down the decorations from the winter formal event we would love it if you could gather your friends and help us. Ms. Cochran will be able to sign service hours for each student that comes and cleans up. We will meet in the commons at 10pm on December 11th and start cleaning up then. The more people we get the easier and faster the clean up!

National Honor Society:

Interested in joining? If you received an email inviting you to join, please be sure to fill out the student form. Also, please give the teacher recommendation form to two teachers. Students can fill it out and either email it or drop it in Ms. Beckerman’s box. Finally, please have your parent or guardian fill out the permission form. Pre-Season Tack and Field Meeting: 

Interested in Track & Field for SHS?  Come meet the coaches at an informational meeting Tuesday, December 14th @ 3:15pm in the Cafeteria.

Pre-Season Softball Meeting: 

Softball pre-season meeting.  This Friday, December 10 at 3:35pm.   Meet at the softball batting cages located between the baseball and football field (the ones with the black screen around them.). Meet the coaches and other players, learn about the off-season workouts, and upcoming season info.  Ask questions and see the facilities.

Pre-Season Baseball Meeting:

Interested in playing SHS Baseball?  Next Monday night , Dec 13th, we will have a player and parent meeting with Coach Luckenbach. We will hold this meeting at 6p in the school Cafeteria.

DECA Club Fundraiser: 

DECA club is sponsoring a Toy Drive for Hopelink. Stop by room 110 and pick up a tag. Return toy to Mr. Bright (Room 110) no later than December 18th.

SHS Holiday Glass Sale: 

Stop by the SHS glass studio, on Tuesday December 14th from 5pm to 7pm to buy some awesome glass products!

Winter Break Opportunity:

Bright Horizons is looking for students, 16+ years old, to earn money while providing support and care for kids during a winter break camp. If you have an interest in working with kids and want to find something to do during winter break, here’s a bit more info for you (as well as the application):

SHS Library News:

SHS Library closures this week: 

  • Wednesday, Dec. 8th: The ENTIRE library will be FULLY CLOSED after school (including snack break) for a staff training.
  • Friday, Dec. 10th: The main presentation area of the library will be closed 8:30-9:30AM for Principal Coffee. Students may still sign in & out of the library, but plan to be seated at the other end of the library.

It’s easy to purchase and create your Ad online:

Yearbook needs your photos!  We are working on creating Class Collages to include in the yearbook.  You all have powerful cameras right in your phones and are the best photographers for this project.  I’m looking for candid photos of you and your friends at school or at school activities.  Pictures for each class should only include students from that class.  Please email them to, put your class in the subject line, and note who is in the picture.

The Class that submits the most photos will earn extra spirit points during the Winter Spirit week so start sending them in now!
