The Bellevue School District is continuing to monitor weather conditions for Friday, December 2. Families and staff will be notified on or before 6 am. Learn more about inclement weather and potential closure reminders.

What qualifications are needed to apply?

  • Any parent of a BSD student in grades 1 – 11 can apply for their child to test.
  • Any parent of a private/home-school student in grades 1 – 11 who lives within the Bellevue School District service area can apply for their child to test.

All Bellevue School District Kindergarten students are screened for Advanced Learning services.  BSD parents do not need to apply.  Learn more.

Parents wishing to refer their own child for testing should complete an application online. Additionally, any staff member, student, or community member may refer a child who lives within the Bellevue School District service area for advanced learning services by submitting the child’s name, grade, school and student number (if known) to the Advanced Learning Office via email at or by calling (425) 456-4136. For students referred by a party other than their parent, parents will be notified and invited to complete an application for testing.

If your child is attending BSD on an inter-district transfer and is identified as in need of advanced learning, services are only provided through differentiation in the general education classroom at the current school setting for which that transfer applies.

When are applications accepted?

Applications will be available at the beginning of September.  The deadline to apply is the end of October by 4:00 pm.

When is winter testing?

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
