Dear Superstar Families,

Thank you for another great week of learning and community building!  Ms. Mizrahi and I had the opportunity to spend about 30 minutes with each class during the past few weeks.  During our visits we shared a little bit about ourselves and our families.  The highlight was hearing from all of your children!  We asked each student to share something they like, something they like to do or something about their family.  It was an amazing experience to get to know our students better!  We met pets and heard about family members, saw favorite toys and drawings, observed magic tricks and musical instrument performances.  We heard example after example of how compassionate and caring our students are.  We feel so fortunate to be the principals of Stevenson, and your children really are superstars!

Here are this week’s updates:

Advanced Learning Testing:  The BSD Advanced Learning Department will be accepting testing applications to determine students in need of advanced learning opportunities beginning October 12, 2020. Applications for advanced learning testing for students in grades 1 through 4 and 6 through 11 will be available online beginning October 12, 2020. District families interested in applying for testing should submit an application before the November 30, 2020 deadline. Parents of BSD Kindergarten and 5th grade students do not need to apply, as these students will be considered for advanced learning services through the Kindergarten and 5th grade screening processes. Learn more about Advanced Learning on our website.

Drive-Thru Flu Vaccination Clinics:  Bellevue School District is offering Drive-Thru Flu Vaccination Clinics next week.  Please see attachments for detailed information on dates, times, locations and accepted health insurance plans.  Please note that flu shots will be provided free of cost if you do not have health insurance. Link in English and Spanish.

Changes in Attendance Coding:  Beginning next week, there will be a change to the coding of your student’s absences.  At the beginning of this school year, we continued with the use of the Remote Learning Access (RLA) coding, that was utilized last spring when students were absent from a virtual class.  Use of the RLA coding aligned with the guidance from the State; however, this was a temporary provision to be utilized up to October 2.  Thus, starting on Monday, October 5th, absences from remote learning will be marked excused or unexcused, and we will be using the attendance codes that we have used in the past.  Remember, school starts at 8am each day.

If your child is going to be absent or tardy to school, please email or call Stevenson Attendance, prior to the absence or before 8am on the same day:

When reporting the absence or tardiness please provide the following information:  Your child’s first and last name, grade, teacher’s name, reason, and which day or days your child was or is going to be absent or tardy.

The absence or tardy is unexcused until the school is notified by email or a call reporting the absence.  For more information about Attendance, please check:

Thank you Superstar Families!
