A New Summer Reading Model

After an extensive review of our summer reading program, feedback from stakeholders and research around best practices for summer reading programs, we have decided to make some changes to best meet the needs of our students. Our new model emphasizes:

  • reading for enjoyment
  • learning to select motivating and engaging texts
  • becoming a reader with broader interests
  • developing into lifelong readers

Families can support this goal by encouraging reading, providing access to texts, and helping students to find regular time to read.
