We, the Board of Directors of the Bellevue School District, have read the findings report from the WIAA investigation of the Bellevue High School football program and agree that there is evidence of misconduct and insufficient oversight.
This is a somber day. In our service as educators we are fully committed to supporting and protecting our students. This belief is paramount in the work I do daily. We believe in our students and we strive to build partnerships with our parents in support of our students. We also strive to build positive relationships within our community based on trust and caring. I recognize that trust is shaken in times like this.
On August 22, 2015, The Seattle Times released an article focusing on the Bellevue High School (BHS) Football team (Bellevue High’s football success aided by ‘diploma mill’). Upon review of the article, which included allegations of potential WIAA violations, Bellevue School District (BSD) and Bellevue High School administrators discussed the school and District’s responsibility to respond to the allegations.
