While it’s not yet time for an “Official Back to School” letter, wanted to be sure families and students had an early opportunity to prepare with school laptops and technology to prepare for the start of an exciting new school year!

  1. Tyee MS Laptop Distribution

All students will be doing remote learning for the start of the school year.  Tyee’s distribution of technology will take place on August 21, 24, and 25.

  • Please arrive during your time in the schedule (sign up here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/9040D4AA4AB2AA7F49-tyee)
    • Secondary students will pick up their device without a parent present. (Parents must stay in cars)
    • Please bring a pen or pencil
    • Masks are required
    • Please maintain physical distancing
  • Device set up will take about 30 minutes for students to complete

If anyone in your family has COVID-19 symptoms, or has had contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, or is still in their isolation period for testing positive for COVID-19 do NOT pick up technology and contact the school (e-mail [email protected]) to make alternate arrangements.

Dates & Times

  • Friday, August 21 – incoming 6th grade students, and students NEW to the Bellevue School District (all grades)
  • Monday, August 24 & Tuesday, August 25 – returning 7th/8th grade students
  • Appointment times are 8am to 4pm each day.

  • Students pick up their device and follow several steps to log in and check functionality – This must be done at the school campus.

Location

  • We will distribute in the Tyee Gymnasium. Vehicles enter from the “Back” parking lot, on the North side of campus off SE 40th Street.

Safety Protocols

  • Siblings or family members may not pick up a device in the place of the student.
  • A touch-free thermometer will be onsite, and students will attest they are symptom-free, prior to entering the building.

  1. EdTech Week – August 24-28

The Bellevue School District is excited to announce our first EdTech Week! This program was designed for 6th grade students and middle and high school (secondary) students new to the Bellevue School District to help them prepare for remote learning. This free event is will help students brush-up and learn new technology skills so they can feel confident with the remote learning applications used by BSD teachers and staff. Please join Bellevue School District Superintendent Dr. Ivan Duran, Deputy Superintendents Eva Collins and Melissa Devita, and more district leaders as they share updates and answer questions on the plans for our return to school. Join us on Wednesday, August 26 from 4 to 5 p.m.

Laptop Distribution Frequently Asked Questions

  • My child is unavailable at the designated dates/times. Will there be more dates after August 25?
    • Yes, we will communicate out the make-up dates after the initial distribution concludes August 25.
  • My child has unique needs where they cannot participate in the outlined process. Will you make individual accommodations?
    • Yes, we will communicate how to reach out if your child cannot participate in the process of coming to Tyee to complete the log-in process. This will come out in the August 25 communication where we list the make-up dates.
  • What is the process?
    • Vehicles enter school from the back (north) parking lot, by the gymnasiums.
    • Vehicles are be handed a paper form for students to indicate they are symptom-free and not presently at risk.
    • After parking the vehicle, students bring the completed form to the entrance while drivers/parents wait in the vehicle.
    • Students line up (6 feet apart) outside to pick up the laptop, then enter the school.
    • A contact-less thermometer screens students before entering.
    • Students find a table inside and follow log-in instructions provided.
    • Staff are present to answer student questions and sanitize surfaces.
    • Once a student launches laptop programs, they will exit a separate door and return to their vehicle.
  • May parents accompany students inside the building?
    • No. For safety purposes, we’ve limited the number of persons entering the building to students only. Staff are inside to provide assistance. Parents/Guardians must wait in vehicles.
  • Can a parent, sibling, or other student pick up my students laptop on their behalf?
    • No. The Tyee student themselves must come in to pick up the device, log in, and verify all applications are functioning. This must be done at the school.
  • Will there be assistance inside to help my student?

Yes, technology and teaching staff will be present to guide students through the process and provide technical assistance as needed.
