Read Tyee’s New ebooks on Sora

In May, Tyee purchased ebooks for students to borrow and read. This ebook collection includes many student favorites and most of the 2019/20 YRCA titles. Click here to view the list of books.

Mrs. Hecht recently purchased more ebooks which includes many of the 2020/21 YRCA titles. Click here for a list of these new books!

All of these ebooks are available on Sora.com. Sora is an exciting platform because students can check out ebooks from the Bellevue School District and KCLS all in one spot!

Installing Sora

Sora is an Overdrive application we can use to access our BSD Overdrive book library, as well as KCLS children’s and young adult library books.

Step 1

Install the Sora app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store on your phone, or go to https://soraapp.com/welcome  on your computer.

TYPE: soraapp.com/welcome into the URL BAR

Step 2

In Sora, select our school district.

Signing in:

Login just like you do on your laptop! (last name, first initial)

To Log back in go to: https://soraapp.com/welcome

If prompted, you can install the desktop version, select Create Shortcut when prompted, then click on install. You can access the app by signing in through the web location https://soraapp.com/welcome.

Step 3

BSD 405 will already be added to your list of libraries. You can access your BSD Overdrive audiobooks here.

To add KCLS to your list of libraries, click the three lines in the upper right. From the drop down menu, choose King County Library System.

Use the search bar or browse the Explore tab and borrow a book.

I like to check the Search all of my Libraries box.

Click Borrow.

Your book will open so you can start reading right away.

Step 4

Close the book and go to your Shelf to see all your books. From there, you can:

  • Click or tap Open Book or Open Audiobook to read or listen to the book.

  • Click or tap Options to renew or return the book, get to your notes and highlights, and more.

Step 5

To read on a different device:

Click on Shelf (select the book you want to read) and then click Options for that title.

Choose Send to a Device, and start reading on your Kindle!
