BSD: Social Emotional Learning Survey for Students on Tuesday, October 6 & Opt Out link

Student Well-being is a priority to the Bellevue School District. We want to foster and promote healthy social-emotional skills for all our students so they can learn and thrive. We have been partnering with Panorama Education over the past few years to help schools and our district learn about students’ thoughts around school climate and provide teacher feedback.

In order to learn more about student experiences, we will be asking for your child’s feedback using the Panorama Social Emotional Learning Survey. Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) is a process through which individuals build awareness and skills in managing emotions, setting goals, establishing relationships, and making responsible decisions that support success in school and in life. Students in grades 3rd through 12th grade will be asked to complete the Panorama SEL online survey during the school day in early October.

The survey will ask students to self-reflect on their own social and emotional skills. The questions that will be asked are below this letter. Students in grades 6-12 will complete the survey between October 6-8. The directions and sharing the “Why- this is important”  will be shared during a live session; however, the survey itself does not need to be conducted during synchronous time.

Families that do not want their student to participate can complete a form which is linked in the family community letter. If a family would like to opt out multiple students, they will need to complete the form multiple times. Families will have until Friday Oct 2 to complete the form. This will be communicated to our school contact Link to Opt Out: https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=OUFKmQZ8HkmAmHkAbVdd4BAz9aAyQm9EnYuT05-_pOlUQzY0SE5PT0ZGMlVUODJYOEFGS01XVTJMUy4u

Tyee: Clubs & Activities Is your student interested in getting involved in one of Tyee’s (virtual) Clubs? Please follow the link to learn more!  https://bsd405.org/tyee/thunderbirds/
Tyee: Attendance Updates Beginning this week, there will be a change to the coding of student’s absences. At the beginning of this school year, we continued with the use of the Remote Learning Absence (RLA) coding, that was utilized last spring when students were absent from a virtual class. Use of the RLA coding aligned with the guidance from the State, however this was a temporary provision to be utilized up to October 2. Thus, starting on Monday, October 5, absences from remote learning will be marked excused or unexcused and we will be using the attendance codes that we have used in the past. Families may contact: [email protected] to excuse absences.
