Good Evening Tyee Families,

Recognizing recent announcements at the State level about the rise of COVID-19 cases in our region, we hope everyone in the community is taking necessary precautions to stay safe as we go further towards the winter season. Second Quarter is well underway here at Tyee, we had a great Veterans Day Assembly last week, and look forward to moving forward in our classes and programs. Below is information about the changes to Wednesday morning classes, and resources we hope are helpful to our families.

And finally, a very happy Diwali to our families celebrating!

Byron Lillie, Principal

Tyee: What to do when Teachers can’t get online!

With rough weather ahead, we should plan for instances where a Teacher loses internet access, and cannot get to their class. When this happens, please follow the guidance below:

Teachers Will:

  • Notify Office Staff of the issue via phone or e-mail (if possible) and continue to try to re-establish contact during the period.
  • E-mail students via Outlook (if possible)
  • Provide flexibility and extension to students in the next class session or asynchronous times.

Office Staff Will:

  • E-mail the students affected, so they are aware of the issue.

Students Should:

  • Remain patient and online in the meeting (if already in), but may complete work for other classes while they wait.
  • Check Outlook e-mail for updates from office staff of the Teachers’ status.
  • Students should only “leave” class if they receive a message from the office confirming the Teacher will not arrive at all.
BSD: Family Connections Resources Tyee and the Bellevue School District want to be sure that all our families are receiving the services and support they may need. The winter and holiday months can be particularly challenging for families, and here is the link to a form to get you connected with our BSD Family Connections Department and the resources they have or partner with in service to our community: https://familyconnections.bsd405.org
BSD: Free Internet Access

The state recognizes this need for reliable internet connectivity, and has partnered with Ziply Fiber, Comcast/Xfinity and Presidio to create Washington’s K–12 Internet Access Program, which gives eligible families free internet access students can connect to learning from home. This opportunity will provide you with faster, stronger and more reliable connectivity than hotspots (base stations for wireless internet access) or tethering to mobile, which will better support your student. If eligible, free internet access is available through June 30, 2021.
