We welcome all our incoming 6th grade students to our annual WEB Orientation. WEB stands for “Where Everyone Belongs” and is a morning orientation program led by school staff and 8th grade student-leaders designed to create a positive and welcoming atmosphere at our school.

This year we are excited to offer this event in-person! We will be following the most updated safety measures consistent with district guidance from public health. To ensure safe capacity, we’ve splitting the event into two timeslots by student last name to ensure adequate spacing during activities.

Times

·       Session 1: 8:30-10:30am (student last names A-L)

·       Session 2: 11:00-1:00pm (student last names M-Z)

*due to capacity size we cannot accommodate requests for alternate timeslots.

Location

·       Tyee Main Gym

·       Please drop off students in the back (north) parking lot (off SE 40th Street)

·       Please pick up students in the front (south) parking lot (off SE Allen Rd)

This activity is completely optional, and not required as part of the school year. We understand families may prefer to keep their student home, and that is OK!  Our staff are careful and attentive – students may opt out of any activities they are uncomfortable doing. Orientation is student-only, we are not able to have parent/family members in attendance.

Students are introduced to key staff members, will participate in fun & safe activities, join group Q&A about middle school life, and take a tour of the school. Most activities are in the large gymnasium, and students will be seated with their small groups, at least 3 feet apart.

Health & Safety Expectations:

·       Students who have recently tested positive, been in close contact with a positive case, or have COVID-like symptoms may not participate and should stay home and follow quarantine guidance.

·       Masks are required throughout the event, both indoors and outdoors for students and staff participating.

·       If your student needs a “mask break”, they can let an adult or group leader know, and they can step outside.
