Good Evening Tyee Community,

Wow, if you can believe it we’ve officially crossed the halfway mark on the school year. On behalf of the entire team of Tyee Teachers & Staff, I want to say thank you for your ongoing support to the learning, well-being, safety, and health of our students and community. As we see schools around us face closures these past few weeks, I’m inspired and thankful to our shared focus on doing what we can to keep our students safely learning in-person each and every day.

Thank you to our parents, guardians, caregivers, advocates, and relatives for their unending support to Tyee students!

We’d also like to wish a Happy Lunar New Year and Black History Month to our families, students, and staff celebrating .

Byron Lillie, Principal

Sem. 1 Grades Due February 7 Just a note to our families reviewing student grades in ParentVue that while the Semester may be over, Teachers are continuing to update gradebooks for Semester 1/Quarter 2 from work that was recently turned in. The current grades you are viewing may not be completely final at this point. Grades will be officially posted by February 7th. Thank you very much for your patience and understanding as our Teachers complete this important work this week.
Tyee: Student Deliveries Tyee is observing a sharp increase in parents and caregivers dropping off both essential and less essential items for students.  Due to the sharp increase, we will only deliver medical items.  Less essential items such as phones, snacks, and homework may be dropped off in the vestibule out front for student pick-up. Please help to ensure your student has their belongings, school supplies, and lunch when they head out the door for school.  If you need to get a message to your student, such as reminders for appointments or rides, please e-mail [email protected].
Tyee: College & Career Exploration Note from Tyee School Counselors: Every year Tyee school counselors visit classrooms to guide students through lessons in Naviance. Naviance is a web-based program used in BSD schools for college and career exploration and planning. There is not yet an option for a separate parent login but ask your student to give you a tour of the site! (Students login through Clever). Learn more about your student’s strengths and interests under the Self Discovery tab. Start the college search together with the SuperMatch College Search. You can read more about Naviance on our district site: https://bsd405.org/about/initiatives/college/naviance/
BSD: Helping My Anxious Child Welcome to the BSD Special Education Dept. and Special Needs PTA’s 2022 Family Resource Series. Please join us in this family-focused informational session where Dr. Jared Taylor and his team will provide information about identifying challenges related to anxiety in your child at home and at school. The presentation will provide details about the types of anxiety and their origins, as well as give specific strategies to help your child at home and how to advocate for support at school. WA State Board of Health Vaccine Survey
The Washington State Board of Health is inviting parents and caregivers of school-age children to complete a survey to provide input that will be shared with a Technical Advisory Group the Board has convened to assess COVID-19 vaccine for inclusion in chapter 246-105 WAC. The TAG will utilize the 9-criteria framework established by the board to assess and evaluate the COVID-19 vaccine for consideration  in chapter 246-105 WAC.

The Board is seeking input from parents and caregivers as it relates to Criteria Nine: “The burden of compliance for the vaccine containing this antigen is reasonable for the parent/caregiver.” To provide input, please complete the survey below:

The survey  is scheduled to close February 2.

BSD: Ballots are here! Remember to vote by Tuesday, February 8 All Bellevue School District voters should have received a ballot in the mail. We have two levy renewals on the ballot to support our students, staff and schools. These two levies are not new taxes but replace current levies that expire later this year. The levies continue funding for staff, academic programs, technology and building repairs. You can learn all about Propositions 1 and 2 at https://bsd405.org/about/school-levies/

Want to know more about how to register to vote in King County, how to vote, or what to do if you lost your ballot? Check out King County Elections at https://kingcounty.gov/depts/elections.aspx

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
