Tyee: Jubilee Basketball We are happy to announce Jubilee is hosting another season of Basketball! Due to high interest and a limited coaching staff, we adjusted the registration process this season to help create the most equitable opportunity for students to participate. All students are sent an e-mail with a form to be filled out between March 23-March 30. Any student interested in basketball must fill out the form to be considered. Based on the interest list, we use a lottery system to determine team selections. A waitlist will be established following this process. We appreciate your support as we seek to provide after-school activities in a positive, safe, and fun environment.

Basketball Details:

  • Registration Window: March 23 – March 30 (check student e-mail to view)
  • Season Length: April 4 – June 1 on M, T, TH from 4:00pm – 4:45pm
  • Games: Wednesdays | 2:45pm – 4:15pm
Tyee: Lunch Update

Following guidance from King County Health Department, Tyee made a few changes to our student lunchroom experience today. We are hopeful these changes are beneficial to student social-emotional wellness while ensuring a safe, healthy, and sanitary eating experience. We will continue monitoring how these changes affect the student experience and will continue to promote both safety and flexibility where we can.

  • Indoors: Cafeteria seating increased by 70+, up to 4 students may sit together at a table. We added 14 tables. The designated indoor eating area is the Commons, now seating has moved from hallways.
  • Outdoors: Eating outside is still permitted, however the designated eating area is the covered basketball court.
  • Activities: The Library and Upper Courtyard remain open the full 30 minutes.
Tyee: Dress Code Reminders

With Spring weather on the way, we get questions from families about student dress/dress code. Tyee follows BSD policy, which affirms the student and parent/guardian(s) determine personal dress and grooming, provided it does not disrupt the learning environment or create a health or hazard to the student or anyone else. Thank you for talking with your students about dressing for school. BSD Student Dress Policy is linked here: https://bsd405.org/wp-content/pdf/policy/3224P.pdf
Tyee: Cell Phone Reminders As Tyee students move into teenage years, often comes an important milestone – a first phone.  Smartphones with cameras and instant social media access changed the landscape of school and social lives for young people and Teachers alike. However, they pose a constant distraction for users. At Tyee we strive to maximize learning opportunities and while we permit the use of phones/personal tech before school, during lunch, and after school, we prohibit phones during class time to limit distractions, ensure privacy, and prevent cheating. Thank you for partnering with Teachers by reminding your students to turn devices off and put them away during class. BSD Student Devices policy is here: https://bsd405.org/wp-content/pdf/policy/3245.pdf
Tyee: Students After School Students are waiting for rides home, sometimes 30-90 minutes after dismissal. We understand drivers prefer to wait for parking lot traffic to clear, but if students are not attending Tutorial or Activities, please pick them up by 3:45p (2:35p on Wednesdays). The office closes at 4:00p (3:00p on Wednesdays). Students may not remain outside unsupervised through the afternoon.

Tutorial is available from 3:25-3:55pm every day but Wednesday. Students can attend any of their 7 teacher’s classrooms. If you’d like to verify your child’s attendance in Tutorial, please e-mail the Teacher to confirm.

Activities & Study Hall are available from 4:00-4:45pm every day but Wednesday. There is also an activity bus route to get students home. More info: https://bsd405.org/tyee/timberwolves/
