Good Evening Tyee Families,

Hope you had a restful and reflective Memorial Day Weekend. The Monday holiday serves as a final “breather” for our students before the final push to the end of the year. We’re continuing our Spring Theme of “Finish Strong” and will continue positive messaging about arriving to class on time, minimizing distractions like phones, and safely transitioning in the hallways and lunchroom. Thank you for connecting with your students about what a successful finish looks like to them, and the steps they need to take to see this vision become a reality!

Please take a look at each update below. Especially for our 8th graders – there are several key events taking place from here to the end of the year.

Byron Lillie, Principal

Tyee: Textbook, & Laptop Return

In the coming weeks, Tyee students will prepare for the summer by returning of checked out textbooks, library books, borrowed instruments and uniforms, and laptop devices.

Teachers will begin checking in textbooks the week of May 31, all Library Books are due June 13, and Laptops will be returned June 17 (8th grade) and June 20 (6th & 7th grade) for re-imaging  over summer. Music teachers and Jubilee Reach Coaches will contact students and families about instruments and uniforms.

Unreturned items could result in fines placed on student accounts, so thank you for working with your student to ensure everything is returned to the school this month!

Tyee: All Visitors Report to Main Office If ever you are visiting our school, please only attempt to enter the building through our front entrance off Allen Road. Staff in the office can assist you with your question or need. Visitors needing to go beyond the Main Office are required to sign-in at our LobbyGuard vestibule and wear a badge at all times.

We’ve had reports this year of family members trying to enter side or rear doors to meet their students or drop off items. Please understand this is highly unsafe for you and our students. Thank you for reporting to the Main Office when you visit our school.

A reminder we have the capacity to accept deliveries for students for ONLY emergency items (such as medication).  We will continue reminding families of this should they attempt to drop off items. If you stop by, thank you for please working with our office staff who can help to explain the change.  It can be quite stressful to forget something for school, but thank you for working with us as we seek to keep students in class, teach them to remember their belongings, and support them with problem-solving strategies when they forget.

Alternatively, please consider making a donation to the PTSA specifically to help towards the cost of the party (which is really going to be Awesome!) here and if your company matches donations then that would be wonderful too. Checks can be made out to Tyee PTSA and sent to the PTA box in the school’s main office

Finally, we also need parent volunteers to help make this fun event happen for our kids – we can’t do it without your help! Please sign up here and be a part of the fun. You don’t need to be an 8th grade parent to sign up – come and see what’s in store for your kids next year!
