Tyee: New Late Arrival Procedures To expedite our process when students arrive to school late, we have installed a kiosk for students to check themselves in and obtain a pass to class. Students may log in two different ways: they can scan their Student ID card, or log-in to Synergy using their typical username/password, or the QR code on the Synergy smartphone app. Thank you for reminding your student to bring their ID card with them to school!
Tyee: March 22 & Pre-Arranged Absences Following the January 17 school closure, March 22 is now a student school day. We recognize some families may have made plans for that day, so please see guidance below regarding BSD’s pre-arranged absence requirements:

Bellevue School District gives all students 5 pre-arranged absence days per school year.  These are excused and can be used for family events, travel, extracurricular events,  private school interviews, etc.  Please complete the pre-arranged absence form prior to the absence for it to be excused.   Students must get their teacher and parents signatures.  After they get all teacher signatures, your student will need to turn the completed form in, to the attendance office.    This form should be submitted to the attendance office at least 3 days before the planned absence so we have time to process it.  You can find more information about pre-arranged absences on this page:  https://bsd405.org/tyee/report-an-absence/

Tyee: Chinese Placement Assessments for next year (Survey closes Wednesday!) Survey Closes Wednesday, February 14!

In the 2024-25 school year, the Chinese 3 course will be available to Tyee students. Tyee students may register for the Chinese course of their choice. While the best pathway for new learners is to take Chinese 1A, 1B, and 2 – our community has many students with background in need of a different path. Students now may register DIRECTLY for Chinese 1B, Chinese 2, or Chinese 3 – skipping prior course requirements.

Current Tyee 6th & 7th grade students may request an in-person assessment for Chinese 1B, 2, or 3 with Ms. Burford, our Tyee Chinese Teacher. Assessments measure speaking, listening, reading, writing, and typing.   If your student would like to take an assessment, please complete the form in the link, and we will contact you to arrange an assessment: https://forms.office.com/r/NGxTxnVbPc

Tyee: Arrival & Dismissal Reminders As the days become darker, and a new activity season begins, we wanted to share a few reminders for our families driving to school!

Arrival: Tyee is open at 8:00am every morning. We strongly encourage families driving to drop students off by 8:15am. Our families dropping students off between 7:55 and 8:05 face very little traffic! Earlier arrivals lessen traffic jams, and better ensure our buses to get in. Our building is open for students to eat breakfast, catch up on homework, and visit the library!

Dismissal: Students participating in after school clubs & activities must be picked up by 4:50pm. The Activity Bus will continue running through the year. It is very dark, so it is important families ensure students are picked up right after activities.

BSD: Arabic Language Evening 2/28 Middle and high school students and families are invited to learn about our 2024-25 online class offerings. Ahlan wa Sahlan. Please attend our Arabic language evening on Wednesday, February 28, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Sammamish High School Library. Learn more about our Arabic language classes held online for middle and high school students, meet our teacher, Manar Chaaban, and meet current students and families. Participate in activities like tatreez (embroidery) and dabkeh (folkloric dance), and enjoy food and art demonstrations. Come in your best Arabic cultural outfit (Thobe or Abaya) to enter a friendly fashion competition. Baklawa, Maamool (date cookies) and Moroccan Mint tea will be provided. BSD secondary students who choose to enroll in Arabic language classes will attend class online through Bellevue Digital Discovery during their regular school day at their home school. If possible, please let us know if you plan to attend through this online form: Microsoft Forms Questions? Please email [email protected].
