Tyee: Smarter Balanced Assessments (May 6-17) In May, your student will be participating in the state Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) testing.  The schedule for Tyee MS will be as follows:

  • May 6-8: Math (in Math Classes)
  • May 13-15: English (in Language Arts Classes)
  • May 10 & 17: SBA Make Up Tests (in Library)
  • May 22-24: 8th Grade Science (in 8th Gr Science classes)
  • May 27: SBA & Science Make-up Testing (in Library)

If students are absent any of the testing days, we will do our best to have them attend a make up session. All testing will take place during the regular school day.

It’s important that students bring WIRED headphones to school to use on testing days because Bluetooth connectivity for wireless earbuds or AirPods will not work with the testing secure browser.  We have a limited number of wired headphones at school we can lend.  Also, please have your student restart their laptop the week leading up to May 6.  This will allow for a faster login to the test site.

Students who are new to Washington may want to explore the training and practice test options that are available online. A Power Point is attached with directions for how to access these.

Tyee: National Bike & Roll to School Day Our school is one of 18 schools participating in Bellevue SchoolPool’s Walk & Roll to SchoolPool campaign during the week of Oct. 2-6!Bellevue SchoolPool is a program that encourages families and students to explore sustainable transportation options for their commute to and from school and alleviate congestion at drop-off and pickup times and locations. During the campaign, students and families are encouraged to walk, bike, carpool or take the bus to and/or from school.

This spring, the campaign is centered around National Bike & Roll to School Day on Wednesday, May 8, but SchoolPool encourages students to try a new way to school any time during week!
