Wilburton Elementary is a new neighborhood school in the Bellevue School District. The school will house Pre-K through 5th grade and will open in the fall of 2018. This newsletter will be published monthly to share updates about the construction of the building and important information regarding the planning of our school.

Meet the Principal

Beth Hamilton

Hello! My name is Beth Hamilton and I am the Principal at Wilburton Elementary School. I have worked in the Bellevue School District for 15 years as an elementary school teacher, instructional leader, and for the past six years as a principal. I live in the Bellevue Community with my husband Alex, our son Elliott, who attends Chinook Middle School, and our furry friend, Hattie the hound dog!

I am excited for the opportunity to build our Wilburton School Community TOGETHER with YOU!

Will You be Attending Wilburton Next Year?

During the 2015-16 school year, a transition plan for student enrollment was created for Wilburton Elementary. To make sure we have accurate information for planning purposes, we ask that any student living in the Wilburton Elementary attendance area fill out the following electronic survey regarding their intentions for the 2018-19 school by Feb. 1.

If you would rather fill out a hard copy, there will be copies available at the district office, Clyde Hill, Enatai, and Woodridge, and at our January Family Night.

For those not in the attendance area, but who would like to be considered for enrollment, please see our BSD Open Enrollment Process.

Wilburton Family Nights

Events have been planned this winter to get to know our community!  We will host Wilburton Family Nights in January at Clyde Hill, Woodridge, and Enatai, where many of our students will be coming from.  Each night will be similar, so you can attend the one that works best for your family! The January night will entail some fun, food, and information regarding the planning process and opening of Wilburton Elementary.

Jan. 22:  Wilburton Family Night at Clyde Hill / 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Jan. 25:
Wilburton Family Night at Enatai / 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Jan. 26:
Wilburton Information Night at Woodridge / 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

Mark your calendar for March as we will come together at the Wilburton Instructional Services Center (WISC) to get to know each other and start planning our August 2018 opening while enjoying some food, fun, and activities!

March 13: Wilburton Family Night at WISC / 6 p.m. – 8 p.m.

And finally, we will have an all school ice cream social in May at the Wilburton Hill Park.  Details about these events will come in future newsletters and be updated on our website, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.

Construction Update

Wilburton Construction

Wilburton is moving along in the construction process.  As of mid-October, the foundations and brace frame footings had been poured and the structural steel for the north portion of the building is complete. The progress is moving at a fast pace and it has been fun to see “what has changed” on a day to day basis.  If you haven’t taken a drive or walk by the school site, I highly recommend it!

Parent Teacher Student Association

Are you interesting in helping create our Wilburton Elementary PTSA?  PTSA is a vital part of a thriving school, supporting our community of parents, staff, and students. We will be working with our Bellevue PTSA Council to begin the process of starting our Wilburton Elementary PTA in the coming months.  If you are interested in being part of this inaugural planning team, please email me at hamiltonel@bsd405.org with your contact information.

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
