Wilburton Logo

Dear Wilburton Community,

Welcome to the 2021-22 school year at Wilburton Elementary! We hope you are enjoying the beautiful Northwest summer. We are thrilled that we will all be back together in our beautiful building this school year.  This communication is intended to provide some general information including a few important dates. We will provide detailed information on safety measures and school procedures later in August through additional emails, postings and videos on our website. In the meantime, please enjoy the rest of the summer and reach out to us if you have any questions. Our office is scheduled to open on August 23rd.

First Day of School and Bell Times:  The first day of school for students in Grades 1-5 is Wednesday, September 1st. The first day of school for Kindergarten is Friday, September 3rd.  Wilburton will have the same bell times as in previous years. Class begins at 8am each day and ends at 2:30 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays, school ends at 12:15pm. We will send out additional information about recommended staggered arrival and dismissal by grade as we get closer to the first day of school.

School Lunch: We will be offering lunch through our nutrition services and this year school lunch will be free for all students.  More detailed lunch information can be found here.

Class Placement: You will be notified of your student’s teacher/class placement via email on August 30th. If you do not receive this email, feel free to call the Wilburton office beginning on August 31st at 425.456.4300.

Back to School Teacher Meet and GreetAugust 30th from 3pm-4pm: This is a time where students and families are welcome to come and meet their teacher, find their classroom, and say hello to other school staff. All students must be accompanied by adults during this time in the building, and to mitigate any potential crowding, please plan to be in classrooms no longer than 15 minutes. Note: We want all students and families to be able to meet/greet and get to know their teachers and classmates as well as see their new classrooms! If you would like to schedule a specific time to have a 1:1 conversation with your student’s teacher, please reach out to them to set that up for different day and time. On your way out of school, please stop to grab an ice cream/popsicle for your student provided by our wonderful PTA.

Kindergarten Orientation:  Kindergarten families – please mark your calendars for August 26th for Kindergarten Orientation. Kindergarten Orientation will be in-person this year.  Students will have the opportunity to spend time with kindergarten teachers in their classroom while adults spend time with office staff to prepare for the first day of school. We will be sending up a SignUpGenius to schedule students and families for Kindergarten Orientation shortly.

School Supplies:  Every Wilburton Elementary School student will be supplied with the instructional materials (e.g. textbooks, workbooks, paper, pencils, crayons, etc.) necessary for their academic success. We recognize students often like to bring their own supplies to supplement what we provide at school. Items you may choose to send with your student will be shared with the rest of the grade and help us stretch school resources further.

Transportation: The Bellevue School District provides free transportation for students who reside within their school’s attendance area, but outside their school’s walking boundary.  All elementary schools have a one-mile walk path boundary. The transportation department will mail home specific information about your student’s exact pick-up/drop-off location and times a few days before school starts. Please contact the Transportation department for additional information or questions regarding buses and bus schedules:

All of the staff at Wilburton is looking forward to the upcoming school year very much. Most of all, we cannot wait to see your student in the building in a few weeks! Please continue to enjoy the warm weather and summer break, and we will send more updates soon.

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
