A Note from the Administration

Chhoun Mey, Principal

Stephanie Mathias, Assistant Principal

Dear Wilburton Families and Parents,

It has been wonderful to see so many of our families and parents attending teacher-family conferences either in person or online. Our school community highly values the importance of partnering and communicating with families and we hope to continue building these important relationships throughout the years.

Additionally, with Governor Inslee’s October 18th deadline for educators to be fully vaccinated, I wanted to reassure our community that Wilburton will not be impacted by any staffing issues due to this mandate.

In partnership,

Chhoun Mey, Principal

Stephanie Mathias, Assistant Principal

SBA Testing for 4th and 5th Graders

This Fall, OSPI requires that all fourth and fifth graders take the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) to capture statewide data in English Language Arts and Math. Students will test in October at their previous grade level (i.e. 4th grade will test at the 3rd grade level). Below are the dates Medina will be testing students on campus.

5th Grade MATH Testing: TUESDAY, October 26th

4th Grade MATH Testing: WEDNESDAY, October 27th

MATH SBA Makeups: THURSDAY, October 28th

5th Grade ELA Testing Date: TUESDAY, November 2nd

4th Grade ELA Testing Date: WEDNESDAY, November 3rd

ELA SBA Makeups: THURSDAY, November 4th

Students will engage in some practice prior to these testing dates with their class. Practice tests are available to the public. You can access the practice site here. If your student is absent on one or all of these dates, makeup days will be available. If for any reason your student will not be on campus during this testing window, please let us know.

Sistema Escolar Workshops

We invite Spanish speaking families with a student in any Bellevue elementary school to come learn more about the Bellevue school system. Please join Liliana Medina, a local parent and founder of Sistema Escolar USA, to learn about how to support your student in grades Kindergarten through fifth grade.

Sistema Escolar will provide information to help families:

  • learn about their school staff
  • understand the importance of regular school attendance
  • know what to do if a student needs learning support or advanced learning
  • realize why parent-teacher conferences are important
  • recognize how your pre-teen’s brain develops

Come join the Zoom session on Monday, October 18, starting at 6:30 p.m. The session will take place in Spanish and will have many opportunities to ask Liliana questions. The Bellevue School District in partnership with Sistema Escolar hope this workshop will inform you to nurture the academic potential and well-being of your student.

Learn more and access the Zoom meeting details.

Outdoor Lunch We are moving into the colder months in the PNW. If you have had your students eating outside or would like them to eat outside, they will continue to eat in our undercover area. Please have students bring thicker jackets to keep warm while eating outdoors.
COVID Mitigating Measure

One of our continued goals is to maintain health and safety as a top priority. One of our mitigating measures we are required to implement per WADOH is to make sure students who may not feel well or are sick to stay home and follow the correct quarantine and isolation requirements. If your student is staying home, please notify us by either calling or emailing.
