Each child’s attendance in elementary school is crucial. Research suggests that positive attendance behaviors in elementary school will have a direct correlation to the child’s progress in literacy and prevent at-risk behaviors in middle school and beyond.
At Woodridge:
- The first bell rings at 8:55 (which is when students should be entering their classroom)
- By 9:00, all students should be seated, following their classroom routines and ready to learn.
- If a child arrives to class after 9:00 they will be marked tardy.
- If your child is going to be absent or late you can call the attendance hotline at 425-456-6205 OR email woodridgeattendance@bsd405.org (feel free to include your child’s teacher in the cc line if you wish). This email address helps us expedite the attendance each day for all 630+ students.
In the Bellevue School District, we are required to follow State law and the School Board’s Policy 3122 and Procedure 3122 as it pertains to Excused and Unexcused Absences.
Research documents the consequences, prevalence, potential causes and possible solutions to children missing extended periods of school in grades Kindergarten, First, Second and Third Grades. You can read more research regarding the importance of each student’s attendance here.
