Yearbook Orders- Final Sales Period

- Jubilee Sports ended on May 31st.

Overdue Library Books
Please, remind your students to return overdue library books. As of today, there are over 200 books overdue by at least two weeks beyond their due date; this represents $2,900 in replacement fines.
All library books checked-out for the 2022-23 school year are due back by Thursday, June 8th. The following day, all checked-out books will appear as LOST and will be assessed a replacement fine. Once books are returned and checked-in, the fine will be removed.
If your student is unsure whether they have overdue books, they can view their library account by logging in to Destiny Discover via the student portal.
If a book is indeed lost, reach out to me as soon as possible.

IMPORTANT!!! Please plan to attend our Final CMS PTSA General Membership Meeting of the year on Wed., June 14th, from 6:00 – 7:00 pm in the Chinook Commons . Coding Summer Camp
Students from Interlake High School lead the Cobra Coding Summer Camp, a virtual camp that aims to teach elementary and middle school students about Python.

8th grade Promotion
The 2023 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 21, at 10:45 AM at Chinook Middle School. Doors open at 10:15 AM for seating.
All Chinook 8th grade students may participate in the promotion ceremony, walk across the stage and receive a certificate.
Fentanyl Awareness and Overdose Prevention
According to King County officials, families in the area are facing a dangerous reality that fatal fentanyl overdoses are on the rise. Access several local resources to learn more about fentanyl, what teens need to know and how to talk to them, the signs of overdose, how to use Naloxone, and more.
Get Free Naloxone by Mail in WA State
Do you have naloxone (a.k.a. Narcan) in your first aid kit? This medication is given when an opioid overdose happens and can help save someone’s life. Anyone who uses opioids (even if they are prescribed by a physician) or who has friends or family who do should have naloxone on hand just in case. Additionally, because fentanyl, a powerful synthetic opioid, can now be found in any illicit drug bought on the street or online, it’s a good idea for anyone using any substances to carry naloxone.
In Washington State, you can now order FREE naloxone kits by mail. The mail order program is meant for people who can’t easily go to a community organization or a pharmacy to get a kit.
Laced & Lethal
Overdoses caused by fentanyl-laced substances are on the rise in King County. Laced & Lethal shares information about fentanyl, the need for naloxone, how to spot an overdose, the risks of using alone, and other helpful resources for youth and families.
Talk Even If
Have the talk that can save lives. King County families are facing a dangerous reality: Fatal fentanyl overdoses are on the rise. Even if you don’t think your teen is at risk, they need to be prepared. Talk Even If shares the facts about fentanyl, what to look out for, and how to get and provide help in an overdose emergency.
I-Connect Evening Event for Families: Bellevue High Seniors to Give Advice
If you and your child are curious what it is like being a student at Bellevue High School (BHS), please join the next I-Connect meeting, “Exit Interview: BHS Seniors Tell All,” where families will have the opportunity to hear from Class of 2023 “experts.” This will be an evening event on Tuesday, June 13, 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Chinook Middle School library.
On the eve of Graduation Day, we will ask a panel of seniors to give us the unvarnished truth. What is the best way for freshmen to make new friends? What types of jobs did they do to fulfill the community service requirement? Did they feel any pressure to experiment with drugs or alcohol? How many colleges did they apply to? We will ask these questions and more. Plus, the seniors will take questions from the audience.
Please arrive early to make your way to the library. We will begin at 6:30 p.m. sharp. No drop-offs allowed; students must be accompanied by an adult.

Review Fees and Fines
Your student may have fees or fines on their school account that need your attention.
It’s important to know that these fines will remain on your student’s account, even if they are changing schools for next year. Students with unpaid fines will not be able to pre-purchase tickets for school socials or pick up their yearbook. If the fines remain when they transition to high school, they will not be eligible to compete in school sports or attend social events until they are paid off.
Please let us help you to clear fines and fees, and resolve any account holds. To check your student’s account, click on this link to log in.

Volunteer Opportunity: Math Agency Tutors Needed for Fall 2023
The BSD is looking for parents, family members and high school students interested in providing math coaching for elementary students next school year. Starting in fall 2023, regular math tutoring will be available for students at Lake Hills Elementary and Stevenson Elementary through district partner, Math Agency. Coaching requires a minimum commitment of 1 hour per week, for at least 10 weeks starting in early September. Training will be offered to all volunteers through Math Agency; no prior tutoring experience or math proficiency is required. Language diversity is welcome!

Bellevue Youth Theatre Performance
The Bellevue Youth Theatre invites students to join them for this summer’s presentation of Alice in Wonderland. No pre-registration required; simply attend one of the audition dates.

Complete Health Forms for 2023-2024 School Year
Want your student to start school on time next year? Make an appointment now to complete:
- Vaccinations – Sign up for MyIR (My Immunization Record) to see if your student needs any school required immunizations.
- Individual Health Plans (IHP) for asthma, diabetes, life-threatening allergies, seizures and other life-threatening conditions (complete yearly)
- Medication authorization paperwork for medicine taken at school (complete yearly)
- Sports physicals if your student will play high school sports (complete every two years)
Make your appointment NOW. Clinics are booked MONTHS in advance.
Many clinics charge $20 or more to complete paperwork outside an appointment.
