June 20,  2023

Dear Cherry Crest Families,

It’s hard to believe, but the last day of school is Thursday. Where did the time go?  I want to share my thanks and appreciation for a strong finish to a great school year.  It is a privilege and honor to lead our teachers and staff in serving and educating your children.  Thank you for entrusting us with that huge responsibility. As summer dawns, I am looking forward to some downtime and vacation with my wife and family including a delayed 25th wedding anniversary visit to Italy and Greece.   As excited as I am for this vacation, I also have an eye toward August and the upcoming school year.  I eagerly anticipate meeting new students and families and building upon relationships from this year.  So, wherever you go and whatever you may do this summer, I wish you and your family the best of times and wonderful memories to last a lifetime.

Have a great summer!

Thank you for taking a few moments to read the important dates and announcements in the parent newsletter below.

Year End Progress Reports. Teachers are working now to finalize year end progress reports for all students.  These progress reports will be available for parent access beginning Tuesday June 27th at 12:00 pm.  Parents can view progress reports through our school district’s learning management system in BSD Parent VUE or Student VUE.

If you would have trouble accessing your child’s progress report, please contact Principal Dusty Steere.

Student Devices and Online Summer Learning.  During the last week of school, teachers have collected student iPads and computers so that the technology department is able to reimage devices over the summer to ensure that they are up to date and running smoothly for students in the fall.

When students return to school in September:

  • Rising kindergarten and 1st grade students will receive an iPad.
  • Rising 2nd grade students will receive a new laptop computer.
  • Rising 3rd – 5th grade students will receive their previously assigned computer.
  • 6th grade students will be issued a new device at their middle school.

Summer Learning Options for All. Cherry Crest students made outstanding academic growth this school year and deserve time this summer to rest, relax and play outside.  At the same time, we encourage all students to continue to access Clever over the summer. In particular, the literacy and math adaptive software programs – Lexia and Khan  Academy- remain accessible for free student use.  Students may access these programs by going to www.Clever.com and logging in with their district credentials.  Students should be able to log in on a computer, tablet or smartphone.* but will need internet access.

*If your child needs an iPad or computer this summer to access summer learning, please reach out to your child’s teacher and/or Principal Dusty Steere.
