Save the Date – December 1st, 2018

Well, it’s that time of the year again where we are super excited to welcome Missoula Children’s Theatre to Medina Elementary.  This year’s performance will be the unique interpretation of the treasured children’s classic, The Secret Garden!  For those of you who are new to our school, the Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT), the Nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for several years now from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,200 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors. A tour team arrives at Medina Elementary on November 26th, 2018 with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play…except the cast. That’s where our talented, young students come in.  An MCT tour team will hold open auditions for The Secret Garden after school starting Monday, 11/26. The audition/rehearsal time will start at 2:45 pm in the cafeteria. There will be after school rehearsals every day the week of November 26th, followed by two performances on Saturday, 12/1, at 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm. There is no charge to attend the performances.

Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills and self-esteem are all characteristics that are attained through the participation in this unique, educational project.  MCT’s mission is to develop life skills in children through participation in the performing arts.  Be sure to mark your calendar and join in the fun!

Click HERE to sign up for the audition. This year audition is on the Monday right after Thanksgiving, having a pre-registered head count is very important to our planning. Thank you all for taking the time to register!

*** MCT play is open to a limited number of actors. Should your child not receive a role this time, click HERE to learn how to help kids deal with disappointment   If your child does not deal well with disappointment, this activity may not be for them at this time.

*** We are looking for two families who would like to host the two MCT Tour Actor/Directors. The host families will provide the housing for the MCT Tour Actor/Directors for 7 nights, from Sunday Nov 25th afternoon to Sunday Dec 2nd morning. The Tour Actor/Directors and the host families often have wonderful memories and may launch new friendships. This is a wonderful opportunity for cultural exchange for the team and the host families. Acceptance is guaranteed if a host family’s child wants to be in the show. First come, first serve.

*** MCT requires a whole week of commitment. Rehearsals will happen every day right after school till 7pm from 11/26-11/30. Your child may be needed for rehearsal any time during the week. The play’s success relies on the commitment from all the actors. Please plan ahead and have your child be available for the rehearsals. Thank you!
