Kavon: Good morning Tyee! Its me Kavon part of your ASB

Evan: And I’m Evan also a part of your ASB

Kavon: On November 14th, we will be starting our annual fundraiser to support our student body.

Evan: In the past we have done a magazine drive – this year will be different. This year, we have decided to give back to communities while benefiting ourselves through chocolate!

Kavon: We will be fundraising through an organization call Equal Exchange – this is an organization that practices fair trade to support communities around the world specifically in our case cacao which is made to use chocolate!

Evan: Fair Trade is a way of doing business that ultimately aims to keep small farmers an active part of the world marketplace, and aims to empower consumers to make purchases that support their values.

Kavon: For every item of chocolate we sell to benefit our school, a lot of the cost goes towards the communities who actually make the product!

Evan: Here at Tyee, we want to make a positive mark in our global community, and this is our first step!

Kavon: More to come next week. Get ready to make a difference!

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
