Good Morning Tyee Community!
Hope you are all returning to the week healthy and well. Please see below for updates for the last week of first semester. Hard to believe we’re nearly half-way through the year, but we look forward to a strong and successful Spring coming up ahead!

Tyee: Second Semester begins Jan. 30 | The new semester term will begin Monday, January 30th. For students enrolled in semester-long courses, they will see a schedule change. Students can view their new schedule in StudentVue (Synergy). In Math classes this week, all students will be provided time to look up their new schedule. On Monday morning, staff will be available to assist students with finding new classes. |
Tyee PTSA: Lunar New Year Celebration | Last Friday evening, the Tyee PTSA hosted a wonderful event for our community in commemoration of Lunar New Year and 2023 – the year of the rabbit. This event (the first we’ve ever hosted!) featured food, arts & crafts, and musical and dance performances from Tyee students, alumni, and community groups. We estimate nearly 1,000 attendees were able to join us, and look forward to celebrating again with you all next year.
A HUGE thank you to the Tyee PTSA leadership, organizers, and our sponsors for an amazing event! https://bsd405.org/2023/01/bsd-celebrates-the-lunar-new-year/ |

Tyee: Bellevue Schools Foundation Spring For Schools (April 1st) | You received an invitation from Bellevue Schools Foundation to join us at Spring for Schools on April 1st! This event provides critical programming for our Tyee MS community and the total of 18,000+ students in every school in Bellevue School District. Here’s a snapshot of the Foundation’s support at Tyee and every school within BSD.
Since its inception, BSF raised over $25 million to fund critical programs that fall through the financial cracks of local, state, and federal funding. Revenue from Spring for Schools is a significant part of the budget available to our educators and students for district-wide programs, as well as grants our educators can apply for directly. Please visit bsfdn.org or review the BSF Annual Report to learn more about the organization’s impact. I hope you can join myself and Tyee Staff and Families at the event. Please list “TYEE” when you register here! With student performances, an Education Showcase, appetizers, and a cash bar, the evening promises to be a fun one in support of our students and community. |
Tyee: Healthy Return! | Please reference the illness protocol below to decide whether your child meets the wellness requirements before returning to school. Our current illness protocol states that students with symptoms will need to test for covid before returning to school – a home test is fine. If you need tests, you may request them from us and pick them up at the school. If they test negative, they may return when:
For more information you may review the symptom flowchart here: COVID-19 Symptom and Exposure Flowchart for Schools and Child Care (wa.gov) Stay Home When Sick https://bsd405.org/services/health/too-sick-for-school/. Please read on when to keep your child home for illness. If your child has ANY of the listed symptoms, Please Keep Your Child Home. Email [email protected] with the reason for the absence and the attendance staff will contact you regarding return to school guidelines. You can review the current guidelines here: COVID-19 Symptom and Exposure Flowchart for Schools and Child Care (wa.gov). |

Tyee: Winter Parking Lot Safety
|
School opens at 8:00am. Please drop your student off before 8:20 to ensure they make it to class on-time. The darkness and winter weather has increased traffic, so please leave home a few minutes earlier this season. We are monitoring tardies and will follow up with students and families if assistance is needed. Thank you for your help!
The parking lot surface can be ICY in Winter. Vehicles must stay below 10mph in our parking lot. Use the curb lane ONLY for drop-off and pick-up, it is VERY UNSAFE to stop in the passing lane and ask children to walk between vehicles. Please stop for pedestrians and follow staff direction. |
Tyee: Visiting Campus | Thank you families and caregivers for supporting a safe and learning-centered environment during the school day.
