Tyee PTSA: Parent & Student Panel 3/20 Tyee PTSA is hosting a parent/student panel on March 20 from 6-8 pm in the Tyee Commons to hear from past Tyee students and Parents of High Schoolers on How to Best Support your Child in Middle School – Supporting healthy perspectives. This will be an interactive Q and A format, topics will range from first hand experience of finding balance physically, emotionally, academically for your child to how to learn from mistakes as students mature through their middle school years. We acknowledge that high school registration is also taking place, and we will have parents with high schoolers that would be happy to share their perspectives on transition to high school.

The panel serves as a parent education opportunity through first hand experiences. We recognize that our students are going through tremendous change in middle school and as this happens, how can we as parents be the best support to help them grow, learn from mistakes, and take on a positive perspective with managing all aspects of their development.  Any questions that you would like to the panel to address on the 20th, feel free to email them to [email protected]. Hope to see you there!

Bellevue Schools Foundation: Spring for Schools 3/30 Tyee Community – With mid-winter break in our rearview mirror, I am looking forward to a vibrant spring, including Spring for Schools on March 30th! Registration for Bellevue Schools Foundation’s annual fundraiser is free. The event not only offers a chance to explore student initiatives funded by the Foundation, it’s a fun evening to connect with fellow BSD families, teachers, and celebrate our community. As a reminder, Bellevue Schools Foundation provides critical funding to our school– you can take a look at the programs supported in our classrooms here.

Hopefully you saw Dr. Aramaki’s note about the importance of funding from BSF at this time. Community donations to BSF will safeguard the transformational opportunities that set BSD apart nationally.  I hope to see you at Spring for Schools on March 30th! If you want to learn more about BSF and/or the event, please don’t hesitate to contact [email protected]

Tyee PTSA: 7th Grade Carnival Planning Committee The PTSA is looking for parents to help plan the 7th Grade Carnival event May 31st from 6:30 – 8:00pm.  Most of the work is already done so time commitment is low, but the joy of helping in your student’s big event is high!  Please email:  [email protected].
Tyee: March 22 & Pre-Arranged Absences In response to the January 17 school closure, March 22 will now be a student school day. We recognize some families may have made plans for that day, so please see guidance below regarding BSD’s pre-arranged absence requirements:

Bellevue School District gives all students 5 pre-arranged absence days per school year.  These are excused and can be used for family events, travel, extracurricular events,  private school interviews, etc.  Please complete the pre-arranged absence form prior to the absence for it to be excused.   Students must get their teacher and parents signatures.  After they get all teacher signatures, your student will need to turn the completed form in, to the attendance office.    This form should be submitted to the attendance office at least 3 days before the planned absence so we have time to process it.  You can find more information about pre-arranged absences on this page:  https://bsd405.org/tyee/report-an-absence/
