Vikram Madan is a local artist and author of the award-winning book The Bubble Collector. Through a grant from the Bellevue Schools foundation, our 4th and 5th grade students at Stevenson will have the opportunity to have a workshop with him in January. Madan has experience doing workshops in schools and engaging kids through a combination of writing, art and humor. He is an immigrant himself and a great example of diversity in the field of literature for our diverse population of students. In the workshop, the visiting author will read some of his poetry and guide students through the creative process of written and visual brainstorming to create a work of art. After the workshop, students will take what they have learned back to class with them. In library class they will work on poetry writing, and go through the process of brainstorming and revision of their work. They will then take this written work to art class and begin to illustrate their poem in a creative way. This will be a great learning experience for our students and a valuable look into the work and creative process of a local author!
