Happy sunny Friday! We had a great busy week back from Spring break! Can you believe we are only nine weeks away from the end of the school year? We have a lot coming up in these next few months of school, including many family opportunities as well. We have Superstar Wednesday this week and next week on Wednesday mornings.
The purpose of Superstar Wednesday is for you, our families, to join your children for core instruction and participate in the learning alongside them. Our staff is so excited to welcome you once again to the classroom to participate in learning along with your child. For grades 5th through 1st, students will be engaging in a literacy lesson and for kindergarten families, you will participate in a math lesson.
The times again are: Superstar Wednesday April 24th for grades 1, 3 and 5 and Wednesday May 1st for our full-day preschool classes, Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade. After this event, families are invited to an optional session put on my our counseling team to learn more about the impacts of social media and engage in a Q/A. More details are below and flyers for all of these events are attached.

¡Feliz viernes soleado! ¡Tuvimos una gran semana ocupada de vuelta de las vacaciones de primavera! ¿Puedes creer que estamos a solo nueve semanas del final del año escolar? Tenemos mucho por venir en estos próximos meses de escuela, incluyendo muchas oportunidades familiares también. Tenemos el Miércoles Superstar esta semana y la próxima semana los miércoles por la mañana.
El propósito de Superstar Wednesday es que usted, nuestras familias, se unan a sus hijos para la instrucción básica y participen en el aprendizaje junto a ellos. Nuestro personal está muy emocionado de darle la bienvenida una vez más al aula para participar en el aprendizaje junto con su hijo. Para los grados 5º a 1º, los estudiantes participarán en una lección de alfabetización y para las familias de jardín de infantes, participarán en una lección de matemáticas.

Optional Workshop following each Superstar Wednesday: Screen Time & Social Media: Impact on Elementary Children – Please join the Stevenson Counselors in Room 146 (Lifespring Family Hub) for a presentation on social media, screen time and the impact on elementary-aged children and how you can support your student at home. We will also go over some tips on how to address and support tech usage. All caretakers are invited for this 30-minute presentation. There will also be a Q&A after the presentation. The presentation can be available in your home language – you will need a cellphone or mobile device.

This month we are living these values by sharing resources with our students and staff to expand understanding of what living with Autism means—to the individual, their family, as well as the greater community in which they learn, play and live. | Please join us for the first meeting of a new group at Stevenson: South Asian Parents Group! This is a group for South Asian parents to learn about local resources, wellness support, and most importantly, build community. Group meetings will be facilitated in Hindi and English.

| Volunteer Corner | Rincón del Voluntario |
| Stevenson welcomes all families and community partners that wish to volunteer. If you are interested in volunteering in the classroom or around students, it is required to submit the following background application (please see the link for more information): Volunteer – Bellevue School District (bsd405.org). Once you have completed, please contact our volunteer coordinators, Kim Mehta for classroom volunteer opportunities at [email protected] or Liliana Godinez at [email protected] , if you wish to volunteer during special events.
FAMILY CONNECTION CENTER The Stevenson family connection center is looking for interested volunteers to help with tasks around the center. This includes, washing, drying, and organizing of clothing donations, organization of the lost and found, as well as sorting, labeling and distribution of weekend meal bags. These are weekly commitments, and a great opportunity to get to know other parents and community members of the stevenson community.
PTA MOVIE NIGHT If you like to plan and organize fun events, consider volunteering with the upcoming Stevenson PTA movie nights scheduled for: April 24th volunteer hours from 4pm to 8pm June 12th volunteer hours from 4pm to 8pm
There are plenty of opportunities to help, including but not limited to the sell of popcorn, shaved ice-cream sells, check-in, set up, and clean up. For more information, please contact Stevenson’s PTA at [email protected].

| NEED HELP WITH FUNDING SUMMER PROGRAMING AND CHILDCARE?
If your family is seeking assistance with signing up your children with summer programing and childcare, please stop by our family connection center, Monday through Thursday from 8am to 4pm (Friday’s by appointment only). In addition, we will have the family connection center open during the following evenings (during Stevenson’s Family Movie Nights): *April 24 from 5:30 to 7:30pm *June 12th from 5:30 to 7:30pm
In addition, if your child has been invited to attend summer school this academic year, we will also be providing help and support with the registration process during Stevenson’s Family Movie Nights. Feel to stop by and see us for support!

DONATIONS REQUEST We are needing donations for preschool age tennis shoes and shoes for boys. We also need husky size clothing for both girls and boys, in particularly pants (sweatpants, leggings, and jeans). Gently used is prefer. We also like to hang on to pajamas to support students in participating during spirit week, pajama day (any size). Please drop off Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm.

New Light Rail Line Opening Saturday, April 27th!
The new light rail system will be debuting on Saturday, April 27. The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the Bellevue Downtown Station. Parking will be limited and it is recommended to car pool or take the public buses to the Bellevue Downtown Station. Afterwards there will be activities at each station from 11am to 4pm. El nuevo sistema de tren que se estará estrenando el sábado 27 de abril. La ceremonia de corte de cinta empezara a las 10am en la estación del centro de Bellevue. El estacionamiento será limitado y se recomienda car pool o tomar los autobuses públicos a la estación del centro de Bellevue. Después habrá actividades en cada estación de 11am a 4pm. | Our students’ leadership team SOAR (Students Organized Against Racism (SOAR) are very excited to start the Reading Buddies project at our school post spring break and be the role models for our PreK – 3r grade student reading with them and showcasing the love for reading. Our SOAR student will be reading with our PreK – 3rd grade buddies and build connections with our students by reading the grade levels book with our students. SOAR is the student leadership group composed of 4th and 5th grade students from our school Stevenson Elementary who want to lead within our school, learn about race and racism, and support peers in developing an understanding about race and its significance in our school and community. We are so proud of our students as they lead within our school! | El equipo de liderazgo de nuestros estudiantes SOAR (Los estudiantes organizados contra el racismo (SOAR) están muy emocionados de comenzar el proyecto de amigos de lectura en nuestra escuela después de las vacaciones de primavera y ser los modelos a seguir para nuestros estudiantes de PreK – 3r grado leyendo con ellos y mostrando el amor por la lectura.
