Learning Through Interests/Internship

Mentor Quick Facts

Internships are:

  • 10–12-weeks with possible extensions for great learning experiences
  • 7 hours on Thursdays between 7am-7pm, except for school breaks

Students:

  • Provide own transportation.
  • Learn from and with the Mentor.
  • Work on projects that add value for Mentor and connect to interests & learning goals.
  • Communicate regularly with Mentor & Advisor.
  • Dress appropriately and behave professionally.
  • Notify Mentor & school immediately when not able to attend internship.

Mentors:

  • Advocate and host Intern; mentor them in learning about the job and workplace skills.
  • Help brainstorm and develop a meaningful project.
  • Call school if Intern is absent (Attendance Phone: 425-456-7808).
  • Complete ImBlaze attendance verifications and internship evaluations.
  • Attend Intern’s exhibitions, if available.
  • Contact Advisor if issues or questions arise.

School Representatives:

  • Advisor visits Intern’s and Mentor’s worksites (in-person or virtually) to periodically check-in and help develop the internship project.
  • LTI Coordinator meets with all Mentors prior to the start of internships for safety check and orientation, secure all paperwork and background clearance.
