November is American Indian Heritage Month

The Cherokee Nation is a sovereign tribal government. Upon settling in Indian Territory (present-day Oklahoma) after the Indian Removal Act, the Cherokee people established a new government in what is now the city of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Today, the Cherokee Nation is the largest tribe in the United States with more than 380,000 tribal citizens worldwide.

This Saturday is Diwali, also known as Deepavali, which is celebrated across India with great enthusiasm as it symbolizes the victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance. It usually lasts five days and people prepare by cleaning and decorating their homes with diya (oil lamps or candles) and rangoli.

Winter Virtual Talent Show*: Showcase your talent through the leadership-hosted Winter Virtual Talent Show! Do you like to dance, sing, perform poetry, comedy stand up, play an instrument, act, or create art? Submit your talent to be featured in the virtual talent show this December! This is hosted by leadership students and all submissions will be compiled into one Stream video shared with Odle students and staff in December before winter break. Please upload your submissions to this Form by November 21. *This is separate from the June talent show hosted by Odle staff.

 

Reflections Stretch your artistic muscles and participate in the National PTSA’s REFLECTIONS program!!  This year’s theme is “I Matter Because…”.  Categories for your original works of art include Choreography/Dance, Film/Video, Literature, Music Composition, Visual Arts, and Photography.  Complete information can be found in the attached Reflections Program document.
