Good morning, Vikings!

Today is Tuesday, March 1st.

Stand for the pledge of allegiance Vikings (wait 3 seconds)

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. (wait 3 seconds)

We pause to acknowledge that Odle Middle School resides on the traditional and occupied land of the Coast Salish Peoples – past, present, and future. We honor their connection to the region, pay respect to Coast Salish Elders past and present, and stand in solidarity through their struggles.

Students–The library will be closed during 1st lunch today

March is Women’s History Month. Harriet Tubman was an American abolitionist and political activist. She was a “conductor” for the Underground Railroad leading enslaved people to freedom before the Civil War. She was also a nurse, a Union spy, and a supporter of women’s suffrage.

March is also Irish Heritage Month. We celebrate Irish Heritage Month to recognize the achievements and contributions of Irish immigrants and their descendants living in the United States. It was first celebrated in 1991. Did you know that JFK was an Irish American? JFK’s 4 grandparents were all children of Irish immigrants who left Ireland during the mid-19th century.

Today’s lunch is a burrito bowl.

Have a great day everyone!

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
