We learn and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.

January 2024 is the first Americans of Chinese Descent Month in Washington State. The first famous figure we introduce in January is Chinese-American architect, I.M. Pei. He began studying architecture in the U.S. in 1935 and earned his B.A. from MIT and his M.A. from Harvard. He is among a select few architects whose work has defined city skylines around the world. One of his most iconic works is the glass and steel pyramid at the Louvre Museum in Paris. In 1983, Pei won the Pritzker Prize, which is referred to as the Nobel Prize of architecture.
