We learn and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.

 

Attention 6th graders –After school on Thursday, April 25th   from 3:20-3:50 will be the last WEB Connection of the year.  This is an opportunity to reunite with your WEB group from orientation, or meet them for the first time and do some fun activities with them.  You will receive a slip during 7th period on Thursday telling you what classroom you should go to meet your group.  This Connection is optional, but your WEB Leaders are super excited to see you there!

 

Congratulations to Kaylee Lin! Kaylee submitted a great design for the door sign competition and the staff has picked her artwork for next year’s classroom signs. Way to go, Kaylee! We look forward to seeing your creation up and down the hallways of Odle, next year!

 

Sammamish will be holding Cheer tryouts from April 30th through May 2nd from 6-8 PM, and May 3rd at 5:30 pm. Attendance for all practice dates is mandatory if you want to try out. Don’t miss out!

 

Hey 6th and 7th graders!  Are you interested in being an ASB officer for the 2024-2025 school year?  There are three parts to becoming an officer: The application and teacher recommendations, an interview with the ASB staff advisors, and finally, the school wide campaign and election.  If you are interested, print the application packet that is available in the ASB channel in the Odle Student team and submit it to the front office by April 26. Late applications will not be considered.  Contact Ms. Warehime with any questions you have.

 

 

April is Middle Eastern and North African Heritage Month. In this month we celebrate the rich history and diverse cultures of people from this region.  Today we recognize Oday Aboushi who is a Palestinian-American NFL player. He is an offensive lineman for the Detroit Lions.

 

 

Please help decorate the gym for 8th Grade Promotion! We are selling potted Hydrangeas to use for decoration. After the ceremony, your family can take your flowers home as a lasting memory. Plants are being sold for $30 each and will be available for pick up immediately after the ceremony. Order instructions have been emailed to parents. Extra order forms are available in the front office.  The deadline for placing your order is today, so don’t delay!

 

Vikings have you heard? ASB is holding their annual dance, the beloved Spring Fling on April 26th, from 6-8 at Odle in the main gym. Tickets are now available in the office, for $5. Tickets at the door will be sold at the door for $10. Don’t forget to buy your spring fling ticket and support ASB! We’re looking forward to seeing you there!

 

Are you ready to boogie at Odle’s upcoming spring dance, Vikings? Coach O’neill & Miss Gayle are teaching group social dance lessons on Mondays & Thursdays before the spring dance during club/activity time in the dance studio. Staff are welcome to join, too! You will learn popular line dances & also how to dance with a partner for swing & salsa. Please ask Coach O’neill or Miss Gayle if you need more deets!

 

 

Odle is having a book fair this week! Stop by the library during your lunch– or during Tutorial if you signed up in advance–to say hello and shop for a new book. The fair is open through Friday. Due to the book fair, Study Zone will not be available this week during Tutorial, but there will be Study Zone during activity time which starts at 3:50.

 

Did you know that there are more than 104 different home languages spoken by students? The Bellevue School District is one of the most linguistically diverse in the state! The 2024 “Why Learn Languages Competition” sponsored by Washington Association for Language Teaching is now accepting submissions and the deadline is April 30, 2024. If you are learning any world languages or your home language is not English, you are eligible to compete in this competition. The contestants need to either write an essay in English or the target language on the prompt: “Language is My Superpower” or make a talent show video representing the target language and culture. Please submit your work to www.whylearnlanguages.org before April 30, 2024. Winners may earn both a certificate and prize money!  If you have any questions, ask a World Language teacher!
