Good Morning, Vikings!

Today is Wednesday, April 27th.

Stand for the pledge of allegiance Vikings (wait 3 seconds)

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. (wait 3 seconds)

We pause to acknowledge that Odle Middle School resides on the traditional and occupied land of the Coast Salish Peoples – past, present, and future. We honor their connection to the region, pay respect to Coast Salish Elders past and present, and stand in solidarity through their struggles.

Hey there 6th graders – the last WEB Connection for the year is happening tomorrow, Thursday April 28th during tutorial from 3:20-3:50.  You will receive a slip during 7th period on Thursday telling you what classroom you should go to at 3:20.  Your WEB Leaders are super excited to see you and have a fun activity planning to close out the year with.   Hope to see you there!

After school Study Zone has been moved from the library to room 117, Ms. Thomas’, during this week, due to the Scholastic Book Fair. Ms. Bahini will be there to work with students that need homework help from 3:20 – 4:40. We are limited to 30 students in the room. So, if you need help, come early!

April is Middle Eastern and Northern African, or M-E-N-A Heritage Month. We recognize tremendous diplomats such as Ambassador Philip Habib, former Under Secretary for Political Affairs, who played a prominent role in the Vietnam peace talks resulting in the 1973 Paris Peace Accords and later successfully pursued a ceasefire in Lebanon. We also recognize Ambassador Selwa “Lucky” Roosevelt, who served the President and Secretary of State as the Chief of Protocol of the United States from 1982-1989, nearly 7 years and longer than anyone else prior. Next week begins Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! Stay tuned to learn about more people during the month of May.

Wanna pie a teacher in the face?  You CAN – IF the lunchroom has fewer than 3 trays left out!  Points will be awarded each day, and students who make an extra effort will become the pie throwers!  So clean up after yourselves, Odlers, because it’s HIGH TIME FOR PIES!

Black Student Union will be held during lunches Thursday in room 131. Please see Mrs. Carroll if you have any questions.

ASB is hosting a spring fling dance on Friday, May 13 from 6-8pm in the gym. Tickets are $10 if you have not paid the ASB fee. If you have paid this fee, tickets are $5 and can be purchased before school or during lunch. You can also buy tickets at the actual dance, and tickets will be $10 regardless of whether you have paid the ASB fee. You can check if you have paid this fee by going to the Odle website and clicking “Pay Fees and Fines,” logging into InTouchReceipting, and clicking “Pay Fines and Fees.” Tickets are free for students on free and reduced lunch. Tickets are not refundable. There will be snacks and drinks, an area to play board games, and a DJ. ASB is so excited to have a dance to celebrate 4th quarter. We are looking forward to the upcoming dance and want everyone to have the opportunity to attend. Having fun school events like a dance is a privilege that is open to all students. To be able to attend the dance, students must follow behavior expectations at school. Students who are unable to show that they can follow school expectations of being Respectful, Responsible, and Safe will lose their opportunity to participate and purchase a ticket. The following behaviors will prevent students from being able to attend the dance:

  • 6 or more unexcused tardies
  • Skipping a class
  • A referral to the assistant principals

This expectation is in effect from today until the afternoon of the dance.

There will be no Fiber Club this Thursday. Fiber Club will return on Thursday, May 5th.

Students will be taking the smarter balanced assessment beginning the week of May 9. It is very important your laptop is working to access the test. Please see Ms. Gunnerson in the office during lunch if you need tech help before the SBA.

Today’s lunch is BBQ chicken sandwich with baked fries.

Have a great day everyone!

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
