Stevenson continues to be responsive to the weather conditions and plans for outside recess. On 01/11/24, BSD sent out the following Cold Weather Guidelines for Outdoor Activities below. We also sent out a Stevenson Inclement Weather plan, several weeks ago. In being mindful of both, Stevenson will make the in time decisions for outdoor recess and consider the conditions of the playground and feels like temperatures at the time.

For weather conditions we will continue to consider the following:

  • Icy
  • Freezing, below 32 degrees
  • Sideways rain
  • Thunderstorm
  • Lightening
  • Actively snowing with measurable accumulation
    • Snow accumulation will be specified when a measurable snowfall is forecast for any hour during a valid period

Stevenson, out of an abundance of caution, will offer students an indoor recess option for temperatures at freezing and below (32 degrees).

If your family has a specific concern or request for your child, please reach out to the admin team and your child’s teacher. We are more than happy to accommodate.

We ask that all families dress their child appropriately for the forecasted weather. If you need assistance with this, please reach out to the Family Connections Center and email or call Will Oden, the Family Services Specialist. [email protected] or 425-456-6005.
