Many colleges and universities share the Common App, a standard general application that students may send to colleges using this form.

The admissions page on the college website will tell you if your college accepts this form.

Many colleges also use this form to evaluate financial aid requests.

If you have questions, try our College & Career Center in the Newport Library or email your counselor.

See below for general steps and instructions for compiling the necessary components of your Common App.

    1. Counselor Questionnaire – provide interesting, unique details that will help us write a rich letter.
    2. Teacher feedback form for Counselor LOR
    3. College application list & deadline
    4. Parent “brag sheet” (recommended, not required)
    5. Upload a resume (example is posted in the Class of 2021 Team & in 2020-2021 LOR packet for Private Colleges)
    6. Submit the Signed BSD FERPA Waiver.  This is a different FERPA from the Common App.
    7. Email completed packet to counselor 3 weeks prior to your first deadline.
