Counseling & Wellness Center offers learning guidance & mental health support

High School Counselors play a vital and varied role. One of their responsibilities is helping students select appropriate courses so that they progress toward graduation, college admission requirements or job entry. Learn more here.  Counseling is an integral part of students’ daily educational environment, and school counselors are partners in student achievement.

All our educators, including Counselors, also help students grow as individuals and get the support they need to build both the academic skills and the social-emotional skills to thrive as adults. This includes helping students manage the normal stress of high school.

To support our students who need additional mental health skills and counseling, we also host Mental Health Counselors at Newport. You can learn more about the Bellevue School District Counseling Services here.

If your student needs help, ask any staff member or your student’s counselor from the list above. Also reach out if you are worried and not sure.

Newport also enjoys extra hours of counseling support from several local agencies that specialize in adolescent mental health. Thank you to our PTSA for the annual grants that fund these additional resources.

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
