Dear International Families,

Thank you for everyone who was able to join us for Curriculum Night. It was great to be able to bring out school community together and I received lots of positive feedback that night. Ultimately, we want families to have a glimpse of the experiences your students are having, to meet teachers, and to hear about the ways students will learn and be engaged this year.

Respectfully,

Russell White

BSD “Reimagining Middle Schools” Project

You may have heard that the Bellevue School District has begun a project to reexamine the structure of middle schools. As of this time, this project is focused at the five comprehensive middle schools in the district. The two choice schools in the district (International and Big Picture) have historically defined programs that are unique to the district and, as a result, are not directly part of the project. However, we will be engaged with the team as part of reciprocal learning.

For those who are interested in learning more, information about the Reimagining Middle School (RMS) project can be found in this link.

Fall 2022 SchoolPool Campaign

We are one of the 21 schools that chose to participate in the Fall 2022 SchoolPool Campaign! We will celebrate Walk & Roll to School Day (October 12), and we encourage families and students to walk and roll during Walk & Roll to School Week (October 10-13). If you live too far to walk to school, you may consider parking in the school vicinity and walk the rest of the route, or carpooling. If you do this, please do not drop off your student on the main streets around the school (SE 7th Place and 128th Ave SE) or in neighborhood cul-de-sacs. In front of Kelsey Creek Park (130th Place SE) could serve this purpose.

Bellevue SchoolPool is a program that encourages families and students to explore sustainable transportation options for their commute to and from school and alleviate congestion at drop-off and pick-up times and locations.

For maps of pedestrian and bicycle facilities in our schools attendance area, and information about the school speed zones, visit the Routes to School web map. Click on our school to find a printable map for your route.

Updated Attendance Procedures

Bellevue School District has updated its attendance procedures to align with state requirements. There are some significant changes, such as the use of “Pre-Arranged Absences.” A summary of Attendance Procedures is provided to proactively share this critical information.

Student Parking Full

This year, we worked to expand the number of parking spots available by creating more parking at the rear of the building and moving more staff there and by reducing the number of visitor spots. Even with this expansion, we are already full and have no more student parking spots available on campus. Students who get their license throughout the year and want to drive will need to park off campus using designated legal spots in the neighborhood.
