The 2021-2022 school year marked the 30th year anniversary of International School’s history! A group of International School students formed a club to organize events to celebrate this big milestone! The International School 30th Anniversary Club was founded by sophomore Hansen Wang (President & Treasurer), Ian Choy (Vice President & Secretary), and Brian Li (Art Director).
Throughout the school year, students of I.S. were invited to join this club to help in their own unique ways. Maksim Pavlicic and Hannah Heywood were named the Directors of Line-up. They oversaw the organization of I.S. students and staff to line-up on the field for a bird-eye picture. The photo was taken by International School Science teacher, Wesley Hung, using his drone. This birds-eye picture was shown at the end of the informational and celebratory video, created by the members of the 30th Year Anniversary club. The teachers and staff were interviewed about the uniqueness, history, activities of International and their experience at the school.
Annually, International French Honor Society would host a French traditional event called Déjeuner en Blanc, but last year was different. The 30th Year Anniversary Club partnered with the National French Honors Society to plan a special Déjeuner en Blanc – Anniversaire des 30 ans. Shout out to the two French teachers, Madame Gwen Geslin and Monsieur Joe Kheriaty, for their support in communication. To encourage students to be creative with their outfit, and have fun, students and staff were invited to participate in the Hat Competition. Congratulations to incoming senior, Arsh Bansal, for winning the Most Creative Hat Award. A commemorative video of the event is being created.
Partnering with local clothing vendors, Winners Sports and RuniProject, 30th Anniversary Club provided the students and staff of I.S. the opportunity to purchase newly designed t-shirts, hoodies, cropped hoodies, and bucket hats. The 30th Year Anniversary Logo contest gave students a chance to show off their skill in Art and a great way to contribute greatly to the International community. With a majority vote of 155/303, senior Keira Wong’s design was selected to be the 30th Year Anniversary logo.
Last but certainly not least, we would like to give a big shout out to: Russell White (International School Principal), Traci Sullivan (Assistant Principal), Jill Follett (Club Advisor), Ellen Stone (Office Secretary), Mary Pyrah (Office Manager), and all the International students and staff for their partnership in this project.
