Our school’s Red Cross Club is  currently organizing International’s first blood drive since 2020, hosted by the American Red Cross. It will be held on Wednesday, March 6th, 2024 from 1:30pm-7:00pm in our school library.

The need for blood donations is constant and the blood supply is currently critically low. Red Cross has declared an emergency blood shortage, noting that blood donations are currently at its lowest level in 20 years. Your blood is essential for surgeries, cancer treatment, chronic illnesses, and traumatic injuries.

Donating at our blood drive is the perfect opportunity to let professionals conduct a free health screening on you! It’s good to make sure that your blood pressure, hemoglobin, and pulse vitals are healthy. After your donation, Red Cross will also screen your blood for your sickle cell trait, tell you your blood type, and test for infectious disease.

To schedule a donation slot, go to this link and select a time slot! You may also go to redcrossblood.org and use code INTLSchool.

If you are not sure whether you are eligible to donate blood, visit this link. The types blood donations that are offered during our blood drive are the Whole Blood and Power Red donations.

If you have concerns about the process of donating blood, this link has helpful information about what your donation will look like.

In order for International to be considered as a host for future blood drives, this one needs to be successful and have enough donors. I hope you will consider donating your blood to save lives.
