students walking into school in unorganized line

The Community Planning Team is working to find ways for students and families to get to know their new communities. This includes selecting dates for communities to come together around a variety of interests.  Last week, on April 19, “Chalk the Walk” took place at Spiritridge, and many Eastgate families were able to attend.  This week, on Thursday, April 25 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m., Mr. Hetherington, Spiritridge Principal, and some staff members will be welcoming Eastgate families to “A Tour Of Spiritridge.” Spiritridge PTSA will also be there to greet and support as well!  Other upcoming dates where Eastgate families are invited include:

  • Multi-Cultural Night (April 28)
  • Science Fair (May 10)

We are being thoughtful about introducing students to each other and we are talking about options for possible virtual and/or in-person fieldtrips. Student input will be gathered to support this process. Staff from both schools will be working together to create classes for the 2023-2024 school year.  Providing time for staff from both schools to collaborate in this process will ensure that those who know the students best will be working together to build balanced classes.

Spiritridge AL families have been invited to the Woodridge Carnival on May 3, as an excellent opportunity to see their new school and socialize with their new classmates.  This aligns with one of the top-rated interests (“participating in social activities with Woodridge students and their families outside of school hours”) in the recently completed survey of AL students from Spiritridge.  Ms. Grigsby, Woodridge Principal, is looking forward to welcoming all AL families to the “Tour of Woodridge” on May 4.  Woodridge students and staff are creating a welcome video for Spiritridge AL students (also a top result on the recently completed survey by AL students). The AL department and staff from Woodridge and Spiritridge AL have been busy planning a getting to know you outing for members of both staff.
