It is our mission to meet the nutritional needs of the students and staff of the Bellevue School District by offering a variety of quality, nutritious meals in a timely, effective manner. We are committed to increasing participation by providing a friendly, professional, clean atmosphere focused on students as customers.
We provide students with a variety of nutritionally balanced menu options for breakfast and lunch that meet or exceed USDA’s Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act certification standards and reflect the 2015 Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Today’s school meal features 100% whole grain rich products, a larger variety and quantity of fruits and vegetables, nonfat and 1% rBST free milk. Meals are trans-fat free, lower in sodium, calorie controlled and include alternate options daily to meet the needs of students with diet restrictions. Our meals are cost-effective due to our efficiency in purchasing, storing, preparing and serving meals.
Nutrition Services supports student’s educational goals by emphasizing the relationship between nutritious foods, good health and a satisfying life. Each month our menus will highlight a seasonal, and often locally sourced, fruit and/or vegetable. An identification of the Harvest of the Month feature along with “fun facts” about the food can be found on the monthly menus.
Additionally, through a partnership with the City of Bellevue we have joined the movement to reduce our impact on the environment. As of the 2018-19 school year we have transitioned 16 of our 18 elementary schools and all four middle schools to the use of durable trays from Styrofoam. We will continue to transition schools as future remodels occur and commercial dishwashing equipment is installed.
