Beginning this summer, the state of Washington will launch a new Summer EBT program called SUN Bucks. The program will provide families with $120 for each eligible school-aged child to buy food when school is out.


Eligibility

  • Children who live in a household already receiving assistance program benefits (SNAP, TANF, FDPIR), OR
  • Children who attend a school that operates the National School Lunch or School Breakfast Program, AND
    • Is directly certified for free or reduced-price school meals, or
    • Submits a qualifying free and reduced-price meal application, or
    • Submits a qualifying Family Income Survey (FIS)
    • The Family Income Survey is a form used by families with children attending a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school. These schools include Lake Hills Elementary, Sherwood Forest Elementary and Stevenson Elementary.

Families are encouraged to complete the 2023-2024 free and reduced priced meal application or the Family Income Survey (CEP schools only) by May 15, 2024.

SUN Bucks will be issued beginning mid-June through the end of August 2024. Once qualified, families will receive an approval notice and SUN Bucks EBT card within 7 to 10 business days via U.S. Mail. SUN Bucks benefits expire 122 days from issuance.

If your family moved during the school year, you need to update your mailing address to ensure the EBT card is sent to the correct address. Address changes can be made using your ParentVUE account.
