Ardmore’s K-2 Arabic Heritage Program (teachers, students, Principal Tina Bogucharova and Assistant Principal Yusra Obaid, and a cozy corner of a classroom) and students at Odle Middle School taking Arabic through Bellevue Digital Discovery.

Ardmore Elementary is thrilled to welcome students and families to their K-2 Arabic Language Program, a groundbreaking initiative that marks a significant milestone in our commitment to providing a diverse and enriching educational experience for our learning community. In addition to the Bellevue School District’s elementary school curriculum, students in Ardmore’s K-2 Arabic Language Program engage in daily Arabic literacy and language instruction. The program includes a focus on inclusivity, honoring varied cultural identities, and strong community and family connections.

At the secondary level, all middle and high school students have the opportunity take Arabic languages courses through Bellevue Digital Discovery with asynchronous and synchronous instruction. Although targeted to heritage speakers, the courses are open to all students regardless of Arabic knowledge.

The Arabic Language Program program launched at the start of the 2023-24 school year and is a component of our larger Heritage Language Project, which expands multilingual programing to celebrate the strengths of our diverse community and promote multilingualism and social-cultural competence.

The Bellevue School District acknowledges that we learn, work, live and gather on the Indigenous Land of the Coast Salish peoples, specifically the Duwamish and Snoqualmie Tribes. We thank these caretakers of this land, who have lived and continue to live here, since time immemorial.
