Congratulations to Odle Middle School eighth grader Thiruvasagam Thirunavukkarasu for his win at the Washington State Chess Tournament on April 21 in Pasco, Wash.
In addition to being named the 2018 Washington State Middle School Champion, he was awarded $100 by the Washington Elementary Chess Championship program.
Seventeen middle school players around Washington participated in four rounds of intense G90 dual rated chess games against players rated as high as 2000. Thirunavukkarasu won all his games including a win against the highest rated person.
