Bellevue School District is currently monitoring a nationwide phenomenon regarding school-based threats on the social media platform, TikTok, and reassures the BSD community that the situation is being continuously monitored. Administrators are aware that the trend references threats of possible shootings and bombings; however, no threats have been identified at Bellevue schools at this time.
Local law enforcement is aware of this national phenomenon and the possibility of threats being received. BSD will continue to work alongside them to monitor the situation. Although there are not any current threats toward BSD, it is important for the school community to remain vigilant and report anything suspicious to law enforcement. Individuals who receive information about imminent threats toward any of our students, staff, or schools should first call 911.
Keeping students and staff safe is a top priority in BSD schools. BSD’s Safety & Security department takes a multi-layered approach to school safety, which includes but is not limited to physical security, emergency preparedness, and well-trained staff. The Safety & Security team collaborates with district staff and students to establish a culture of safety and security that provides for a safe learning environment, through preparedness and awareness.
