Congratulations to BSD’s District Athletics & Activities Director Jeff Lowell for being named a co-winner of the 2017-18 Athletic Director of the Year award by Washington Secondary Schools Athletic Administrators Association (WSSAAA).  Lowell was presented the award, along with co-winner Jeff Baines, Athletic Director and Assistant Principal at Sumner High School, at the WSSAAA Awards Banquet on April 24 in Spokane, Wash.

This year Lowell was awarded the District Award by WSSAAA for his outstanding service to District 2 high school athletic programs.  From this he advanced as a nominee to the state level award, along with the eight other district award winners statewide.

The selection committee chose Lowell from testimonials written by his peers.

“Jeff’s passion is what is best for kids and athletics,” wrote Yonni Mills, Athletic Director at Bothell High School.  “He is a critical part of what we do at the league, district, and state levels.  He is very giving of his time and talents to do the detail work that many others will not.”

Jesse Snyder, Athletic Director at Newport High School stated, “He (Jeff) has an incredibly sharp mind for getting to the core of an issue and explain the complicated in the simplest of terms. Jeff has made himself a resource of tremendous value to his colleagues in the KingCo Conference and around the state.”

Lowell said he was humbled by the recognition.

“There’s people who do great work across the state for their school districts and their leagues,” he said.  “To be selected is a great honor and makes me want to continue to do great work.”
