This message is an update on the Bellevue School District’s superintendent search. The district will provide periodic updates to increase awareness and encourage community participation in the superintendent search. Your voices are important to us and will play an integral role in the selection of our next superintendent.

Finally, if you have thoughts to share regarding our next superintendent, you are encouraged to complete the online survey – which is being extended to September 1, 2022, to maximize community engagement.
Stakeholder Interview Panels
The Bellevue School District Board of Directors will convene several stakeholder panels (students, staff, community) to assist in vetting and interviewing superintendent candidates. This approach augments and deepens the level and quality of community input from past BSD searches. Sixty panelists will have access to application materials, conduct interviews facilitated by consultants, and provide feedback to the Board on each candidate. The names of applicants will not be publicly disclosed in order to attract the highest quality applicants, including current superintendents. This approach is recommended by Human Capital Enterprises, our search firm partners, and will enhance the quality of the candidate pool, improve the quality of community input, and ensure equitable community input. Interviews are tentatively scheduled in January, 2023. Panel participants must commit to participating for one full day of interviews and sign a confidentiality agreement. Stay tuned for more information in November regarding how to express your interest in serving as a panelist.

Selecting a search consultant – May, 2022
- Public Engagement and Announcing Phase:
Community engagement and feedback to create an ideal leadership profile – June through September, 2022
- Recruiting Phase:
Human Capital Enterprises to advertise and recruit nationally for candidates that match the ideal leadership profile – October through November, 2022
- Selection Phase:
This includes interviews with candidates and an extensive review process – November, 2022 through January, 2023
- Transition Phase:
Introducing the new superintendent to all areas of our school community and work with the outgoing interim superintendent in succession planning. – February through June, 2023
